Recruited by the First National Bank of Skokie in 1974 into the position of Assistant Auditor, was promoted into more senior positions through two significant mergers. The First National Bank of Skokie was purchased by U.S. Ameribancs in 1983 to create a 12 bank network. In 1987, this group was purchased by the National Bank of Detroit (NBD), which has subsequently merged with BankOne.

Promoted into this executive position responsible for all financial accounting / activities. Active contributor to strategic planning, marketing and growth initiatives, and business direction. Selected in each merger to retain position. Successfully managed the conversion and integration of financial activities into the new operational structures.

After the detection of internal fraud, was chosen and promoted by the Board of Directors into the position of Auditor. Reporting directly to them, restructured the audit program to strengthen controls and ensure compliance with all regulations. Introduced and integrated PC automation and spreadsheet processing to the financial activities. During this period, the bank grew to $300 million in assets. Performed audits of every operational area and financial activity. These included retail and commercial deposits and loans, teller operations, safe deposit, cash, transaction processing, and investments. In 1980, was appointed as Acting Controller, responsible for all financial accounting / transactions for the bank.
