S-1 corporation providing business and technical consulting services. Areas of expertise include technical due diligence for potential acquisitions, corporate restructuring, asset liquidations, and new business development. Key engagements performed to date:

* Currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer of a $200M, privately held, facilities based provider of prepaid calling cards. The company currently does over 500 million minutes a month of domestic and international long distance phone service and is growing at greater than 50% year. I am responsible for leading their MIS organization, new product development, and developing their next generation prepaid services platform. Currently focusing on restructuring the MIS organization and realigning it with the business functions as well as starting and managing a company-wide business process reengineering effort.

* Completed a three-month business process documentation project for a $250M, privately held printing company. The project focused on documenting and reengineering the business processes at one of the eight business units with an overall goal of applying the "lessons learned" to the other business units. The effectiveness and level of utilization of the company's existing ERP system was also included in the scope of work.

* Completed several "technology due diligence" efforts for venture capital firms who were evaluating the assets of Competitive Local Exchange companies who had filed for either Ch 11 Bankruptcy or Ch 7 liquidation.

* Completed a 15-month renovation of a 120 year old home. In addition to a greater than 90% complete restoration of the original structure, installed over 500 cables of C5, C3, RG6, RG59 to create a 21st century "smart home" that has audio, video, phone, security, internet access, surveillance, and home automation fully integrated into a cohesive system. The audio, video, home theater, and home automation features are controlled from a singled handheld device and can be activated and enjoyed anywhere in the house.

$1B competitive local-exchange and integrated data communications provider offering voice and broadband data services to business customers on company built fiber and fixed-wireless networks in over 60 markets (now XO Communications).

Served as one of nine founding executives, personally recruited by the President, and as a member of the nine-person Operating Committee responsible for day-to-day company management.

As CMO, led Market Assessment (ROW and franchise negotiations, route design, and building selection) led all Engineering (inside plant, outside plant, network engineering, and central office design & construction) Carrier Sales (wholesale sales to IXC's, RBOC's and other CLEC's) Marketing (brand management, PR, product definition, sales materials) and NEXTLAB, the corporate technology facility.

As CTO and President of Technology Services, merged the engineering and network organizations with the application development and internal systems support
organizations to form Technology Services, which grew to over 450 employees (12% of total employees) by the end of 1999 and had a total budget of $135MM. Directed network engineering and operations, software and systems development, and the internal IT network and Data Center. Managed all technology evaluation and selection activities for hardware, software, and systems Nextlink-wide. Had final signature authority over all Nextlink capital spending, $650MM in 1999.

* Partnered with Nextlink’s regional presidents to design, build and turn-up 30 new cities with facilities-based local and long distance voice and data services in four years; each city buildout cost $10 - $30MM and was usually accomplished in six to nine months.

* Negotiated technology-related contract terms and conditions and led technology due diligence efforts for acquisitions. Negotiated and awarded over $1B in plant, property, and equipment contracts during four-year tenure. Created win-win, “pay-as-you-grow” contracts with leading telecom vendors that minimized Nextlink’s capital expenditures until customers were added to the network.

* Designed, developed and deployed the internal IT network that connected over 150 Nextlink regional offices, central offices, and sales offices and over 5,000 networked PC’s and servers.

* Designed and developed the OSS systems architecture for: Order Entry, Provisioning, Billing, Fault Monitoring & Trouble Management, and Customer Care; evaluated top vendors for each system and made buy or build decisions for each:

* Outsourced and managed the $20MM development of a custom-built, object-oriented, order entry system that served as the primary interface for entering all sales orders and provided electronic bonding to ILEC legacy systems for automated service ordering of unbundled network elements;

* Selected and deployed a company-wide provisioning system centrally managed from NEXTLAB;

* Chose a billing systems vendor, requiring initial integration to their mainframe Service Bureau application with a planned migration and integration to their future UNIX based system;

* Developed a hybrid network monitoring and trouble management system that was purchased and then integrated with a custom-built company-wide trouble management system; and

* Developed in-house an Oracle-based Data Warehouse Repository that supported both the Customer Care organization and provided daily customized corporate and market-level internal reports.

* Designed, built, staffed and managed NEXTLAB, the corporate technology facility in Plano, TX, a 7 x 24 facility with a complete and fully functional replica of a typical Nextlink city network used for:

* Development and testing of new equipment, products and services and training of technical staff.

* Data Center Operations, tasked with running all Operational Support Systems (OSS) as well as all internal support systems.

* Network Operations Center, served as first-level identification, evaluation, and resolution of problems on the national network; the NOC monitored all network elements (switch, transport and customer equipment) in each city as well as the national ATM backbone network.

* Designed, developed and deployed the corporate Intranet, Planet X, which provided all employees with access to company news and events, benefit and training information, email and Lotus Notes databases, and access to external vendor Extranet sites.

FOUNDER, Advanced Technology Group

One of six founding members of the Advanced Technology Group. Developed the structure and operating principles for the ATG in the first six months. Responsible for creating a new family of revenue generating products and services that combined computers, telecommunications and broadband technologies.

* Created and managed the Developers Lab to support third party development of new products and services; its success prompted an official launch in 1993 as part of the national “networkMCI” campaign and was featured in print and video ads as MCI’s “21st Century Garage.”

* Built a $4MM testing facility that had eight developer rooms and connectivity to all of MCI’s voice and data services; grew the staff from 3 to over 20 professionals and had a 1994 budget of $3MM and a 1995 budget of $9MM.

* Managed overall responsibility for the creation of the business plan, marketing plan, project management and operating procedures, contracts, publicity and
advertising, and marketing the Developers Lab’s capabilities to MCI’s customers and the telecommunications industry.

* Facilitated the generation of over $250MM in new and retained revenue in three years.
