Energy Management � Lead management effort for the largest non-IPP end user energy book in North America: 25 end use sites, 530,000 MMBtu/day gas use, 0.9 GW electricity use, 0.3 GW company owned/ �in the fence� generation and 15,000 TPD Oxygen use.
� Maintain relationships with 20+ gas and/or electric utilities.
� Lean and efficient management: The foregoing portfolio is managed with six full time employees.
� Initiated DSM and voluntary curtailment programs, yielding about $6 million per year in cost avoidance for impacted plants. Outsourced program to reduce cost and maintain strict headcount targets. (IL, IN, PA, MD)
� In concert with European colleagues, prepared pre-acquisition review of utility contracts for acquired subsidiaries in South Africa, Algeria, Czech Republic, Poland, and Mexico.
� Managed U.S. subsidiary's NOx allowance book, liquidating over $23 million in NOx allowances to date. The latest sales campaign sold $7 million allowances short against the box, yielding $1.55 million additional profit on a mark-to-market basis.
� Initiated Company's Greenhouse Gas strategy. This project involves identifying projects in former CIS countries that will yield carbon credits for sale. Current estimate: $83 million asset recovery. Apart from asset sales, carbon is now an explicit variable in long lived project financial analysis at the company.
� Leading several �green energy� projects: Landfill gas utilization (IL), three wind farms on company�s land footprint (IN, NY)
� Leading Company�sl USA energy conservation team. This broad based team has reduced our natural gas consumption by 6.6% and electricity consumption by 5.6% (2005 vs. 2006).
Risk Management � Initiate and lead the Risk Management team for Company�s North American natural gas & base metals exposure. We manage a $3.6 billion/year notional risk, covering seven traded markets.
� Revised risk assessment strategy and tools to accurately reflect complex base metals exposure, reducing notional quantity at risk by about $175 million/year, and preventing large Nickel hedge losses in the 2007 & 2008 plan period.
� Developed FAS 133 tools and business processes for firm�s derivatives book. Firm was brought to full FAS 133 compliance in a three week project timeframe. Further refinements have reduced manpower requirements to 10 man-hours per month.
Govt. Relations/Govt. Affairs � Former Chairman of the [INDUSTRY LEADING ENERGY ADVOCACY GROUP] I testified to the U.S. House Energy Subcommittee regarding N. American Natural Gas Supply.

2000 Company 2 Chicago, IL Vice President of Sales and Marketing - U.S. Vertical internet trading portal catering to the primary metals manufacturing industry. I led North American marketing efforts to enlist U.S. and Canadian metals manufacturers, as well as vendors for the portal. Reported to CEO.

Energy Supply Manager, Purchasing Managed company's energy buy. Develop post FERC 636 supply strategy that saved $34 million/year in natural gas costs.
Project Engineer, Energy Management & Planning Developed and managed energy conservation projects throughout steel plant. Saved $1.9 million in steam and natural gas costs during first year of employment.
