ESSELTE CORPORATION ($1.5 BN. producer of office products in 60 countries)
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO), (CTO) AND MEMBER OF SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM. 2002 - 2005
Commissioned by the venture capital Board of Directors and CEO to accomplish a 3 year mission to consolidate and transform major business practices, IT organization, business systems, data centers, network and IT infrastructure in advance of a US public stock offering (IPO). It was necessary to replace the fragmented IT organization, redundant business practices and to assure Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance. These efforts consolidated their 30 IT operations into 3 regional service centers to eliminate duplication of effort and cost, completely retooled and modernized their hardware, network and security; and consolidated 22 incompatible ERP systems into SAP and Axapta tied together with a Cognos/Oracle Data Warehouse for business intelligence and reporting. This was accomplished while maintaining a modest IT budget of less than 3% of sales.

MARCHFIRST 2000 - 2002
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER AND COO FOR EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY PRACTICES. (Formerly US WEB/CKS $2.1BN. revenue, professional services E-commerce and brand building software firm.)
Held P&L responsibility for $300 million revenue and managed a staff of 2,500 building extensible, high volume and highly available E-commerce transaction systems outsourced to our data center for: Lufthansa, Alitalia, BMW, Audi, Shell Oil, Microsoft MSN, London Stock Exchange (LIFFE), Credit Suisse, and UBS banks. Responsible for:
•120 person Microsoft based E-commerce development center and 4 UNIX-focused development centers,
• High availability six-sigma shared services production data center running mission critical customer applications
• Wireless (WIFI), (GSM G3) and (RFID) application research and development center used by Nokia and Erickson
• Supply Chain Integration center using Oracle Applications 11i, SAP, J.D. Edwards
• Customer Management practice using PeopleSoft, Siebel, and Remedy

RENAISSANCE WORLDWIDE ($1.3 BN. strategy consultancy) 1996 - 2000
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER AND VICE PRESIDENT SYSTEMS & ARCHITECTURE PRACTICE
$70mm P&L and 250 Sr. technologists. Authors of the "balanced Scorecard" technique for achieving strategic-to-operational alignment, the Systems Solutions & Architecture Practice was the implementation arm of Renaissance Worldwide specializing in merger & acquisition IT integration strategy, mission critical business software and infrastructure for prestigious clients: J.P. Morgan, MIT University, Union Pacific Railroad, Nynex, and CISCO. Also managed a team of “rapid response” technologist who repaired major system failures around the world. Served as executive advisor to Central Intelligence Agency in commercialization of security software.

In 1999 - 2000, served as the first CIO of Electronic Arts supporting 5,500 employees in 24 countries, 192 IT staff and a $40mm annual IT budget. Successfully led a major IT retooling effort similar to the most recent role at Esselte. Within 18 months, implemented 12 major programs to remediate the company’s failing infrastructure and produced a pan-European roll-out of Oracle Financial Applications suite. These projects ensured sustained business growth and the ability to implement multi-player internet interactive gaming products.

APPLE COMPUTER ($12BN REVENUE) 1989 - 1996
DIRECTOR OF ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGIES & CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER for Enterprise Systems Product Division and earlier, for their internal IT organization. The division created commercial middleware products that enhanced the compatibility of the Macintosh within IT infrastructure settings.
