King Pharmaceuticals Rochester, Michigan SENIOR DIRECTOR, PROJECT MANAGEMENT , 1999-present Mission/Results The Rochester plant of this Tennessee-based company needed to move new products into the facility quickly to operate at capacity and generate a profit. The manufacturing site had no project management processes in place in 1999, and a poor track record of finishing projects. Microsoft Project was installed on many PCs, but no one used it for anything other than an initial Gantt chart at the project initiation stage. Under my leadership, they now have project management tools and techniques and a successful product transfer program, as measured by the ability to meet time and budget constraints of individual projects. Some accomplishments:
Led senior management through the process of prioritizing projects and introduced the concept of portfolio management
Introduced project management processes, with the appropriate tools and techniques
Provided training and mentorship in project management tools and techniques to executives, managers and professionals of the Rochester plant
Designed and managed the implementation of a database to create and manage project budgets
Sold the idea of bringing in MS Project Server to create and manage schedules at all King sites
Introduced inter-disciplinary project teams and a process for managing the company’s constraining resources
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Detroit, Michigan CONSULTANT, 1998-1999
Mission/Results BCBSM made the decision to outsource its IMAC and Help Desk in an effort to provide state-of-the-art services to its internal clients. At the same time, this major health insurance company upgraded its 7,000 seats to NT workstations and its network from Banyan Vines to NT, a project that was also outsourced. I was brought it at the tail end of vendor selection to help BCBSM write the statement of work and hammer out a contract with Vanstar, the vendor selected for both IMAC/Help Desk and the NT upgrade project. Some accomplishments:
Worked on a team of Inacom, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Millbank Tweed personnel to write the Statement of Work and contract binding Inacom (Vanstar at that time) to BCBSM in an outsourcing agreement.
Provided guidance and organization to the initial NT migration team
Designed and managed the implementation of new processes for handling work requests related to procurement and IMAC services, including the development of a new tool written in Access
Worked on a cross-functional team to document and improve charge back processes.

Mission/Results In 1997, FANUC made the decision to implement BAAN. Halfway into the project, however, they realized that their existing infrastructure would not support the application and they needed a major overhaul of the network and processes prior to roll-out of their new ERP system. I was brought it to make those changes, which I did in the year spent there. Some accomplishments:
Developed project plans and schedules for all work needed to upgrade the infrastructure
Set up and directed an architecture team to define standards and a technical strategy Re-organized the operations staff to put a new focus on customers
Interviewed key managers to determine priorities and begin Service Level Agreements
Defined new processes and roles for individuals, to redirect priorities and streamline work
