Based in northern New Jersey, the Company is a leading brand in several pet treat categories, including rawhide and porkhide chews, natural treats, dental chews, and hybrids. Its products are distributed by leading retailers throughout the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Mexico.
Requirements:
" A minimum of 8 to 12 years of experience in a purchasing department of a CPG company.
" Above average MS Excel skills
" Solid phone skills and can interact will with others
" Excellent computer skills.
Primary Job Functions (reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing for the Company):
The Senior Buyer will be actively involved in the procurement of goods from various global suppliers. The position also involves compiling and maintaining records of business transactions and assisting the Director of Purchasing in obtaining new, lower cost alternatives.
" Supplier Development
o Locate suppliers of materials, equipment, services, packaging and supplies.
o Interview suppliers to obtain desired goods and services weighing the factors of quality cost service and innovation.
" Cost Improvement Implementation
o Interface with supplier to develop and implement contract.
o Create favorable pricing strategies and acquire current and applicable market information.
" Cost Improvement Acquisition
o Prepare request for bid, or whichever process is appropriate for products being evaluated, contacts suppliers for quotations, analyzes bids received, negotiates and prepares contracts, and monitors contracts.
o Examine select, order and purchase at the most favorable prices- merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
" Strategic Purchasing
o Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability to meet forecasted demand.
o Maintain categories in the strategic purchasing planning calendar.
