Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), Newark Field Office I accepted a promotion to create the newly authorized Special Operations Branch in Newark, New Jersey. The mission of the branch is to consolidate the functional areas of: Security Operations, Crisis Management, Physical Surveillance, Aviation, Covert Technical Operations, Human Intelligence, and Special Event Management.
Ø Supervision of 120 subordinates through 9 direct-report subordinate managers Ø Managed and approved classified budgets for all responsible functional programs Ø Consolidated and built the business model for the functional areas: Security Operations, Crisis Management, Physical Surveillance, Aviation, Covert Technical Operations, Human Intelligence, and Special Event Management Ø Developed joint task force with New Jerseys Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, as well as with the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Ø Reviewed and approved complex and sensitive undercover operations Ø Assigned, oversaw and approved internal investigations and compliance audits
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA), New York Field Office, Joint Terrorism Task Force I chose to leave FBI Headquarters to accept a challenging leadership position in the field which would further strengthen my supervisory experience and help me advance both my skills and career. I was assigned to a squad which executives described as ineffective. Within my first year of leading the squad, it led the division in statistical accomplishments. Within two years, both productivity and case load increased so much I was able to successfully advocate forming a second squad under another supervisor and dividing the caseload. By the end of my third year in New York, the number of active investigations exceeded those of the original squad by more than 120%.

Unit Chief for Operations, Terrorist Screening Center (TSC), Washington, DC I was promoted to lead a multi-agency 24 hour, 7 days a week operations center tasked with providing real-time management of all encounters with known or suspected terrorists on the Terrorist Watch List.
Ø Supervision of 72 subordinates through 5 direct-report subordinate managers Ø Conducted complete analysis: business practices, reports/data entry/tracking Ø Reduced personnel costs 20% by efficient assignment scheduling Ø Established a fully integrated, back-up continuity site which mirrored the TSC Ø Set requirements, then reviewed and approved all Information Technology (IT) improvements to watch listing infrastructure.
