2015 - Present
Gordian Knot Analytics Group
Company Description: Three-year-old B2B predictive analytics software startup with powerful intellectual property used to help clients better market to their customers across the whole of the customer life cycle.
Co-founded Gordian Knot Analytics Group as an equity partner to commercialize the powerful, unique, and exciting predictive analytics software created by two of the other co-founders.
At inception, company's software could create predictive algorithms and optimizations in a "big data" environment more effectively and simply than any other solution on the market, but applications were broad and often difficult to understand. Given my expertise, I pushed to focus applications on marketing and created four products that leverage the technology in easy-to-understand marketing cases that remain the core of the Gordian Knot offering: 1) targeting/messaging, 2) optimized marketing mix, 3) customer retention, and 4) maximizing key performance measures, including improved forecasting and enhancing cross-sell.
Collaboratively created messaging, marketing collateral, and pricing structure for these products with co-founders and sold in to major companies like Expedia, LendingTree, Travelocity, and vRad, personally generating $1.4 million in revenue for the company over 2.5 years.
Currently leading corporate strategy, product development, and sales as well as managing back-end and strategic sales channel partners. Also driving the transformation of Gordian Knot's products into self-serve tools to improve scalability and broaden market opportunities.
2015 - 2015
Company Description: Established startup focused on providing Chinese internet/digital data intelligence, strategy and services to Western companies to help them succeed with the global Chinese consumer.
Moved from YouGov to join a startup, Bomoda, as an equity partner at the beginning of 2015. Oversaw and drove the creation of Bomoda's China-focused Blueprints from conception to a fully marketable data product as part of Bomoda's shift from a B2C media/consulting company to a B2B data-product company. Included a complete overhaul of the company's mission, values, products, language, and website. Drove monthly creation of Blueprints for release, controlled outbound marketing and managed a team of analysts, modelers, and report production specialists.
2009 - 2015
Company Description: Global publicly-held $103 million / 500+ employee marketing/research company providing both custom and syndicated research services to a wide range of industries.
Transitioned from Partner at Clear Horizons to Director at YouGov during the acquisition of Clear Horizons by YouGov in 2009. Promoted to Principal in 2010, a title that better fit my levels of revenue generation.
Increased personal revenue generation from 2009 to 2014. Sold $1.3 million in 2014 with $797k in recurring revenue and $390k from new clients. Led the charge when YouGov's revised vision called for syndicated and custom research as a single solution; sold and executed $287k of these new packages in 2014.
Sold and executed positioning, messaging and ad testing for clients to drive multi-million-dollar ad spend decisions as well as concept and product development testing which defined roadmaps, features, and bundles, and increased margins. Personally created B2C and B2B segmentations for Travelocity and HomeAdvisor that fundamentally transformed their marketing and product development ($960k in revenue in 2011 and 2012).
Led strategic and multi-national projects with C-Level executives at clients like Travelocity, Home Advisor, Motorola, Panasonic, Tyco Integrated Security, HTC, Learning Care Group, Sleep Number, Bloomberg, Nutrisystem, Pepsi and others.
'10 Principal. Promotion in title, no change in duties.
'09 Director. Entered YouGov as Director with responsibility for selling, executing and managing projects with senior-level clients.
2003 - 2009
Company Description: Three million dollar high-end marketing research firm providing strategic insights and survey-based research to C-level clients.
Joined Clear Horizons at inception and was promoted to equity partner in 2008 due to effective execution and ability to expand business with existing clients. Managed an array of vendors and the report production team. Created proprietary consumer-based research models and benchmarks for beta level technology product design. Worked with and sold to C-Level clients on strategic projects, including Motorola, Nutrisystem, Hewlett Packard, LG, Martindale Hubbell, LexisNexis, Johnson & Johnson, Match.com and Blockbuster.
Participated in the sale of Clear Horizons as an equity partner to YouGov in 2009, despite a down economy. Clear Horizons sold at an unusually high multiple for a professional services firmover 7 times earnings.
'08 Partner. Promotion to full partner (with granted equity). Changes in duties primarily involved increased outward-facing sales and participation in running the business.
