Summary

CFO with Large Group Practices, Medical Foundation, and Large Hospital System Experience.

Objective

My objective is to serve as a CFO or Senior Financial Executive with a large physician group or large practice, or Ambulatory division of a large health system. My objective is to capitalize on my experience serving as CFO for a 450 physician group practice in an urban health system, and additional experience establishing a new Medical Foundation for a $2.5 Billion health system.


Current Employment

Partner, Consulting Firm 2010 - Present

Currently assisting a $2.5 Billion health system in New England with compilation of their corporate five year financial plans, including their Accountable Care Organization, Medical Foundation, and Clinical Integration activities. Recently served as a Consulting CFO, assisting the same health system with establishment of a Medical Foundation to employ 150 physicians previously housed in five separate companies. The Medical Foundation was successfully established, providing a unified management, accounting, and reporting structure to support the systems ACO initiative. Budgets, financial plans, financial reports, control systems, and financial projections were designed and developed.

From 2010 to 2012 served as Senior Finance Executive for a 450 physician practice that was a division of a $2 Billion Midwestern health system. The practice grew from 360 to 450 physicians during my tenure, with a number of large specialty practices, including cardiology, oncology, and ENT acquired and integrated. Responsible for all financial reporting, budgeting, accounting and forecasting for the group. As a member of Ascension Health, all local and national reporting protocols and timeframes were followed. During my tenure EHR was implemented, physicians were qualified to serve as Patient Centered Medical Homes, an IPA was acquired to further the contracting strategy of the organization, and establishment of a separate Medical Foundation and ACO were evaluated.


Prior Employment and Education

CFO of Health System 1998 - 2009

Served as Chief Financial Officer for a three hospital system. Responsible for all accounting, reporting, and financial functions. Acquired and disposed of a number of physician practices, and a home health agency.

VP of Finance 1992- 1998

Served as Controller, Vice President, and CFO for a hospital system under a management contract or directly employed by the system. Responsible for all accounting, reporting, and financial functions.

Director of Finance, 750 bed hospital 1988- 1992

Responsible for patient accounting, admitting, collections and other functions now deemed to be Revenue Cycle. Also directed the implementations of hospital and physician billing systems.


Audit Manager, PWC 1983- 1988

Rose from staff accountant to audit manager, primarily serving hospital clients. During my tenure I also performed financial feasibility studies for bond issues, and served as project director on a number of hospital billing system implementations.
