CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

" Was contacted by an engineer who had modified the circuitry of a mobile (and iPad) SIM card so it would be able to access the satellite phone network. Demonstrated that product would have full service in remote areas of the world. His thought was to offer the product to NGOs working in remote locations, and to consumers offering very competitive cost for unlimited calls, text and data. Wanted help to access commercial property industry uses and to raise money to fund production operations. Interestingly, the monies needed were rather nominal (about USD2 million) with low production cost; recommended accessing small investors. Suggested possible military applications. Introduced client to a major aircraft manufacturers research and development group that works extensively with global militaries. Was not privy to subsequent discussions and arrangement, however client seemed to pursue the military industry option for his product since he no longer needed my services.

" Worked with a serial entrepreneur who devised a far more elaborate consumer wearable health product and related software than current products available on the market. The product would have eliminated the simplistic and inaccurate activity trackers products currently available. The product was so accurate that it was competitive with hospital-based medical devices. Advised client with market entry and penetration strategies, marketing approaches and staffing issues. Additionally, advised company on raising about USD5 million to fund production operations and patent application. Due to market valuation issues with such devices, the entrepreneur has postponed an aggressive launch.

" Approached by U.S.-based architectural firm. They had a Saudi client who wanted to know what property development options could be viable on a vacant, owned property in Jeddah. In a working partnership with the architectural firm, provided business analysis of proposed projects and criticised the design and details of the proposed project for a USD180 million multi-family structure with a retail entertainment component. We competed against other firms who were seeking business with the Saudi family. Shockingly, our working partnership of relatively small businesses, were selected as one of two finalists to make a formal presentation to the Saudi family. This was a surprising and humbling situation because the other finalist was a major, international architectural firm! We made our presentation in Jeddah. Unfortunately, the Saudi family decided to pass on both finalist proposals and do nothing with the site at the time.

" Worked with an Irish commercial bank who was attempting to re-establish its property lending business in the U.S. The bank has been in the property lending business, but exited it after experiencing some troubling loans in its portfolio. The bank wanted to resurrect the property lending business. After preparing a risk tolerance analysis through interviews with senior management, I outlined a strategic plan addressing targeted geographies and property types, and the structure of the banks internal staffing needs and qualifications. The bank subsequently grew its property loan portfolio to USD4 billion from zero in about three years.

" Asked to join a USD32 billion super-regional commercial bank to establish a property loan syndication business. Work included drafting of policies and standardised legal agreements relevant to the loan syndication business. Educated the banks relationship and credit staffs on the appropriate methods for negotiating client bank loans for purposes of syndication. Business scope expanded to SME businesses. Activities resulted in additional lending opportunities with existing clients and enhanced portfolio yield.

" Have created a number of courses (over thirty) that I subsequently delivered at several universities for degree and non-degree programmes. Course topics range from finance and capital markets, to asset management, property development, marketing and entrepreneurship including others. Created additional courses for clients of companies such as Moodys Analytics and Euromoney Learning Solutions which I delivered in various locations throughout the world. Additionally, designed several professional learning curricula for clients. In some fifteen plus years of teaching, I estimate I have taught several thousand people over the past fifteen plus years with more to come.

" A private university desired to create a masters degree programme in real estate. Worked with a small group of individuals as an industry expert to develop the curriculum. In about one year, with no formal marketing other than word-of-mouth marketing, the graduate degree programme grew from no students to 70 students, making it one of the largest real estate masters degree programs in the U.S. The school has subsequently asked that I design and pursue a real estate programme to be conducted from the universitys London campus.
