Overhauled the design process Ford uses to develop new automotive engines from concept readiness through production launch. This phase gate process is used by over 1000 Ford team members to determine program health for all new engine programs. It includes deliverables and metrics used to escalate program issues at periodic management design reviews. Directed programmers to create checkpoint review software to evaluate status to this process. This effort involved collaboration with stake holders ranging from marketing to engine test and finance to design. Established buy in from all groups up front and coached users to ensure adoption of this process at its launch.
Diesel Systems Engineer 3 years
Provided interface between engine component engineers in the UK and vehicle engineers in the US for an engine program involving several hundred employees. Directed packaging studies to install a new diesel engine in an existing truck package. Coordinated engine cooling system and induction system design efforts. This program required extensive revision to both vehicle and power train including turbo charger packaging, new engine controls and tier IV emissions compliance.
