Executive Job Description
COMPANY: One of the worlds leading producers of precision thin film coatings and optical filters; offers an unmatched range of products for high-technology manufacturers in the defense, commercial, space, science, astronomy, thermal imaging, and medical device markets. Division of rapidly growing, Fortune 100 manufacturer of highly engineered, advanced materials.

POSITION: Quality Manager, Thin Film Coatings Group

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer/Chief Technical Officer

SUMMARY: As a key member of the management team, actively manage the Quality System and Quality Improvement Plan with the aim to meet or exceed agreed quality targets. Provide executive management team with timely and salient quality system updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management:
" Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
" Prioritize, schedule and delegate assignments, and directly supervise the Quality Departments activities to ensure meeting of agreed targets.
" Ensure that all groups meet their performance expectations and work within their budgetary constraints, and review procedures and ensure procedures are followed.
" Provide vision for the TFCG Quality Strategy and input into the LRP process.
" Responsible for managing Quality Management System, providing management updates and direction of all aspects of the Quality organization across TFCG.
" Other responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
" Act safely and ethically at all times and maintain responsibility for the quality departments safety performance. Uphold and act according to corporate values, mission, and vision.

Continuous Improvement:
" Work with the CI Engineering Leader to drive continuous improvement processes utilizing Six Sigma & Lean techniques.
" Maintain, report and develop goals with clearly defined action plans to improve key metrics (Cost of Quality, Customer Complaint metrics, Yield).
" Develop programs to provide training in quality technologies and methodologies.
" Drive process quality improvements along with Process Engineering through the implementation of relevant process controls, sampling systems, enhanced manufacturing procedures and utilization of statistical techniques.
" Work with Test Engineering to specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Analyze production and service limitations and standards. Recommend revision of specifications when needed.

Customer Requirements:
" Function as the customer advocate in the introduction of new products and development of mutual expectations for ISO9000 Design Control and customer needs mapping.
" Oversee the establishment of quality specifications and standards for new and existing products.
" Manage program to certify product quality conformance to specifications and standards.
" Interact with customer base and internal customer contacts in regards to specifications and standards.
" Coordinate customer quality audits with inside/outside sales.

Quality Management System:
" Responsible for maintaining and promoting the use of the ISO9000 quality system and or any other customer required certification. Keep the company up to date in regards to the Quality System and any changes in the relevant standards.
" Act as primary management representative for ISO9000.
" Schedule, coordinate and supervise the training of all associates in the quality policies utilized in the quality system.
" Review & assign (if appropriate) all customer complaints for proper root cause (RC), corrective action (CA), verification of the corrective action (CA), and ensure the proper controls are in place to prevent a reoccurrence (sustain through audits, SOPs, visual controls, poke yokes, etc)  acts as the VOC on all complaints and provides timely updates to the customer.
" Manage the process & material changes (externally  customers & suppliers, internally) and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
" Maintain the quality management system which includes management review, document control, calibration, corrective & preventative actions, complaints, etc.
" Develop problem solving processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc) for all corrective actions  critical for all customer complaints. Share best practices with the CI engineering leader.
" Develop and maintain a supplier quality system that ensures specifications are in place, complete supplier quality audits, manage supplier change requests and initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR).
" Perform periodic internal audits across TFCG sites of the quality management system. Develop action plans to address findings. Coordinate external quality system audits.


EXPERIENCE:

" Eight (8) to ten (10) years of manufacturing and quality control/quality system and/or TQM experience showing progression with at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
" Minimum of 5 years global Quality Management experience working in a high technology industry.
" Lean and or Six Sigma Green Belt certification required or 2  3 years of continuous improvement experience; Black Belt certification preferred.
" Experience with and knowledge of manufacturing systems, the quality function and technical products. Further experience with calibration, metrology and quality system auditing.
" Preference is for previous experience in either defense or medical industry.
" Prior experience with ISO9000 requirements and certifications
" Working knowledge of ISO13485.

SKILLS:

" Ability to use Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Access) and statistical software packages
" Good interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others, respect others, is respected, and a good communicator
" Organized; prepares meeting agendas and minutes, organizes time and information efficiently
" Good management skills; ability to make use of scheduled 1:1s, hold others accountable through written performance reviews, has regular department meetings, track progress using appropriate metrics
" Responsive; dedication to follow up and completion of action items
" Good leadership skills; ability to provide vision for the quality function
" Comfortable with taking the initiative; self-started, able to motivate others, bias for action
" As this role requires communication with customers, employees, senior management, internal & external engineering and senior management, the individual must have excellent oral and written skills in English.
" Ability to prioritize work and use limited resources to accomplish business needs
" Willingness to share in successes and failures, team player; open and honest

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Business or Technical field; Masters degree preferred

COMPENSATION: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus; full benefits
