Oracle Corporation (NASD: ORCL) Burlington, MA & Redwood Shores, CA Solution Architect 1997 – 2007 I joined Oracle Corporation as a member of their Northeast applications implementation organization, bringing large-project management background. I later moved to Development and Sales, as a subject matter expert focused primarily on our Supply Chain- Logistics applications. During my tenure with the company, specific accomplishments included: - Successfully analyzed Client business processes & designed supply chain solutions across Oracle’s complete Supply Chain Suite –Warehouse Management, Transportation, Inventory Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, & Order Fulfillment. Handled over 150 Clients/projects. - Led/supported Oracle field sales teams worldwide in analyzing supply chain/logistics requirements, business processes, & key performance metrics, then delivering presentations to Oracle’s strategic & geographic accounts, including financial benefits. Over 100 opportunities overall; approximately two dozen involved cost/benefit analysis. - Designed future-state & interim system architectures, with supporting migration plans; over 3 dozen situations. - Implemented & managed implementations of Oracle Applications for numerous manufacturing & distribution clients. Over a dozen significant projects; largest was a multi-million dollar domestic implementation. - Trained Oracle internal & Partner resources worldwide in rollout of new Supply Chain software releases, for R11i & R12. Consultant to International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) Middletown, RI Director, Product Management 1996-7 Working on a project with IBM, I led a business evaluation project to determine whether to bring a new Call Center application to market. - Analyzed potential platforms (hardware & operating system) & market size to determine viability of new product. - Reviewed existing products & features to determine optimum mix. - Obtained feedback from field sales regarding market penetration, cannibalization, price points. - Developed financial projections for this new business. - Determined overall business viability. CVS Pharmacy (NYSE: CVS) Woonsocket, RI Manager, Distribution Systems 1993-6 I joined CVS as a member of the company’s MIS organization. During my tenure with the firm, I managed several development groups and a special, multi-year project focused on revamping the entire supply chain- including business processes, material handling equipment, & information systems. This project involved benchmarking, as well. A summary of accomplishments includes: - Developed/honed expertise in the areas of supply chain operations & warehouse management systems. - Exercised extensive User-facing leadership experience and structured workshop/facilitation skills. - Managed project to select engineering services & software vendors. Identified & helped Users rank selection criteria, narrowed field, interviewed finalists, chose preferred candidate, negotiated scope of effort & terms. Dozens of candidate firms narrowed to 3 finalists; 1 chosen to support requirements. - Worked extensively with engineering services & software vendors to clarify requirements, review proposals, tailor solutions, select finalists/winners. My responsibilities were to review their existing information systems environments to determine the adequacy of controls, as well as management of their resources. Example responsibilities included: - Analyzed priorities & spending in various divisions to determine consistency of stated priorities & budgetary focus/resource allocation. - Reviewed controls in MVS & VM environments to ensure adequacy of operating system & access security. - Reviewed application controls to ensure execution consistency & completeness - Determined extent & adequacy of communication between corporate & divisional department management.
The Gillette Company Boston, MA, & Santa Monica, CA Cost Accounting & Financial Planning 1978-1980 While at Gillette, I handled various cost analysis, fixed asset accounting, & project/line of business financial planning responsibilities. Also, developed software to support these activities. Examples included: - Analyzed cost variances & identified root causes- purchase price, material usage, volume/absorption, etc. - Prepared depreciation/amortization entries & projections; “what if” for various acquisition/disposal scenarios. - Analyzed impact on Company capital, P&L, cash flow of various projects/investment scenarios - Developed software to analyze impact of precious-metal cost fluctuations (e.g., gold from $40 to $200/oz.).
