Responsibilities include all marketing research, site selection, lease negotiations, real estate acquisitions and property management. Additional responsibilities include President of the company’s real estate subsidiary. Highlights include:
·CHALLENGE: Maintain and improve company real estate portfolio.
Solution: Analyze, project and negotiated over 130 transactions covering expansions, self-developed acquisitions and land leases as well as build to suit developments.
Immediate result: All facilities have met or exceeded sales projections; excess real estate holdings have been kept to a minimum and rents negotiated have been held at rates less than or equal to market rates.

Solution: Identify opportunities; determine economic feasibility; developed post transaction strategic plan for and negotiate acquisitions.
Immediate result: The acquisitions allowed the organization to achieve significant growth through entry into new markets that would have been extremely difficult to enter by way of organic growth.
Residual effect: The organization has grown nearly 500% in sales.

Solution: A comprehensive consumer research program utilizing a variety of quantitative and qualitative techniques and associated systems were developed.
Immediate result: The organization received timely and enhanced consumer insights and analysis that enabled the development of effective and innovative marketing strategies.

·CHALLENGE: How can the organization use information technology more efficiently and effectively to compete in the market?
Solution: A series of cross-functional teams were created under my leadership and direction with the task of designing, developing and implementing: i) a complete redesign of the distribution center information system; ii) marketing Data Warehouse and associated Category Management system; iii) Frequent Shopper Loyalty Marketing Program and associated systems.
Immediate result: The systems met all design specifications, were delivered on time and within budget. The systems allowed the organization to improve in-stock positions; to improve the category review cycle time thus allowing the organization to maintain a competitive variety and selection of product in a timelier manner and to more effectively communicate with our best customers. This has resulted in a 5% increase in average transaction size, improved customer retention and a 10% improvement in gross margins, without increasing prices in an intensely competitive industry. Residual effect: The firm occupies either first or second position in every trade area it occupies.
