PROFIT/LOSS MANAGEMENT
Experienced profit/loss manager in the private sector as well as having experience at developing funding in the public sector. This gives me a complete understanding of how the money is allocated and then how to best turn it into a profit within an organization. As a profit/loss manager in the private sector, I increased the profit of the office from 9.9% to 19% by pushing some of the duplicate administrative and accounting functions to the corporate office and enhancing customer satisfaction resulting in increased repeat business. As an experienced manager, I have also worked with different nationalities, bringing them together to form a cohesive organization.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Registered Professional Engineer in four states with extensive experience in roads, airfields, and rail construction and maintenance. As the Stabilization Forces Engineer Chief of Operations, I obtained the funding, and then executed $90 million in contracts through the Bosnian government for all new roads, all road upgrades, and all road maintenance for a nine-month period. As the Program Manager/Owners Representative for the Texas Tech University football stadium renovation, I represented the owner in this $700 million project completely renovating all existing stands, installation of new luxury suites, renovation and improvement of the press box, upgrading of the locker rooms, as well as all other facilities. This project hasn’t resulted in a better record for the team, but did satisfy the athletic department.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Experienced Business Development Manager providing consistent record of improving sales through customer satisfaction. Received award for Most Improved Salesperson of the Year for 1988 personally accounting for over $10 million in sales. Developed two start-up offices, bringing in over $900,000 during the first six months by getting customers and keeping them come back to me for repeat business and modifications to the existing contracts.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Over 20 years of large program management from offshore oil drilling platforms, to massive road projects, to airfield projects, to large Superfund sites. Directed all construction on facilities and bases in Central Command during Operation Enduring Freedom. Directed all contract construction on facilities and bases in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Started Iraq Area Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
WORK HISTORY U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS 2002 - Present Iraq Area Engineer and Deputy Gulf Regional Engineer, Camp Doha, Kuwait and Baghdad, Iraq. Directed all military contingency contract construction in the Central Command area consisting of 25 countries with approximately $102 million in fees. Commanded first team that entered Iraq to perform contract construction in all areas of troop support. Contracting authority for all land forces in the entire country of Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Activated Army Reservist.
Engineer Chief of Facilities and Construction, Camp Doha, Kuwait and Bagram, Afghanistan. 2001 - 2002 Initiated and coordinated all construction at military bases and facilities in a 25-country area of operation. Developed initial cost estimates, developed scopes of work, requested funds from Congress, contracted, and provided QA/QC for all construction for land forces during Operation Enduring Freedom. Activated Army Reservist.
Stabilization Forces Engineer Chief of Operations, Sarajevo, Bosnia. 1999 - 2000 Directed all Freedom of Movement projects in Bosnia Herzegovina, which included maintenance and new construction on all roads, railways, airports, and seaports. Also, in command of construction of new $19 million Stabilization Forces Headquarters in Sarajevo. Budget for all work came to $110 million in 1999. Activated Army Reservist.
URS CORPORATION 2000 - 2001 Vice President, Programs and Construction Management, Houston, Texas. Developed and managed all major construction management programs and new areas of business in Texas, including Department of Defense programs, large programs spanning more than one discipline, and programs in areas of business that were not established in the Texas area. Won Architect/Engineering contract with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity worth $3 million. Managed Texas Tech Football Stadium $700 million renovation as Owner's Representative.
