Senior Finance Director CURRENT ASSIGNMENT
In May 2007, I joined a small, publicly traded finance company in northern New Jersey (165 employees). This company is highly successful in purchasing distressed consumer debt and liquidating the receivables for profit. ($540 Million of purchased assets with a face value of $13.5Billion).
Responsible for Finance and directing IT projects, reporting to the CFO. Also member of investment committee responsible for review, recommendation of portfolio purchases. Currently direct 8 people tasked with automating performance reporting, analysis and portfolio modeling in finance and operations.
Accomplishments to-date include directing the re-engineering of Collections system front-end (ORACLE) for enhanced data capture. In 3 short months, analysis capabilities for evaluating portfolio and agency collection performance were significantly improved. Also developed modeling capabilities using historical liquidation curves in support of portfolio pricing. This capability also streamlined portfolio analysis in support of SOP03-3 requirements (Impairment testing, yield accretion, etc.). As Interim Controller, leveraged data and modeling capabilities to completely re-engineer the financial close process. Significantly reduced time (2 weeks) in providing financials for company's 10Q/10K filings.

Senior Vice President, CFO – Bank Operations 2006
In January 2006, joined the Senior Finance team after successful performance on merger transition team.
Directed 35 associates (5 direct reports) providing financial support to operations executives in the following areas: Customer Marketing, Credit and Retention, Credit Strategies, Customer Satisfaction, Operations and Fulfillment, Collections, and Fraud.
Overall financial responsibility for $2 billion in operating expenses (19,000 associates) and $9 billion in credit losses. Partnered with operations management in achieving post-merger expense savings of $400 Million (19%) in 15 months.
Senior Vice President – Corporate and Strategic Planning 1998-2005
Directed 45 associates (3 direct reports) in Corporate and Strategic Planning group.
Responsible for strategic and tactical financial plans, monthly forecasts and performance analysis for 9 major business lines in 5 countries - a total of $140 billion in assets and $2 billion in income.
Directed all financial analysis and business sensitivities supporting the CFO’s presentations to investors, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee during a period of strong growth (16% in Managed loans / 23% in Net Income/EPS, on average, during 1998 - 2004).
In March 1998, assigned by the CFO to re-engineer the financial planning process. Assembled talented staff and directed the deployment of Hyperion financial tools (Pillar/Essbase) for domestic and international businesses. Within one year, achieved robust financial and performance metrics data for all businesses. In three years, developed an effective organization structure to support an extremely disciplined financial process, supporting the demands of Sarbanes Oxley for our balance sheet estimates.
Re-engineering resulted in an extremely nimble group, able to support changing business direction. This was due to continued advancement of Hyperion modeling capabilities and developing our analytical talent.
In March 2005, assigned to direct Global Financial Systems strategy (three months prior to bank merger). This was in support of strategic direction to diversify and expand international presence. Lead team (Accounting/Finance/IT) and developed an enterprise-wide vision to support profitability measures at all levels (Account, Customer, Channel, Vintage, Affinity, and Product). The design included appropriate “bridges” to external reporting views (Managed, Securitized, and “on-book” financials). Developed high level roadmap for process improvement and related systems initiatives over a five-year timeframe.
After merger announcement in June 2005, assigned to direct the migration all financial systems for the merger of 2 Fortune 500 banks. Performance on this projected resulted in opportunity to join post-merger finance team.
Vice President – Treasury and Asset/Liability Management 1992-1998
In January 1997, assigned to manage funding transactions and provide ongoing market analysis for unsecured debt programs. Worked with investment banks to set up Global Bank Note and MTN programs. Lead transaction manager for Senior/Subordinated notes and Capital Securities.
In January 1992, assigned to develop Asset/Liability management process after company IPO in 1991. Developed ALM simulation modeling for U.S., Canadian and European entities, partnering with BancWare. Often presented our modeling enhancements at Banc Ware conferences to guide future development.
Member of Asset/Liability Management Sub-committee, presenting ongoing analysis and evaluation of financial risk position (interest rate risk, liquidity, and capital adequacy). Senior Finance Officer – Financial Planning 1988-1992
In March 1998, joined Credit Card division of a major mid-Atlantic financial institution as lead financial analyst for credit cards, deposits, and merchant banking. In first 3 months, developed a standard, robust planning model for forecasting and business performance analysis that became the standard forecasting tool for five years.
Provided significant analytical and presentation support to CFO in preparation for company IPO in 1991.
Served on task force charged with deploying multi-dimensional database in support of reporting needs. Partnering with Holistic Systems, built the first OLAP “cube” for the management reporting and analysis

In September, 1981, joined a Life insurance company's Controllers division as a staff accountant. After 6 years of progressive responsibility, achieved position of Corporate Accounting director. Responsible for statutory annual statement preparation, general accounting, expense analysis and product costing. A subsequent merger with another insurance company in 1986 added responsibility for managing the investment accounting function for the combined companies ($2 billion portfolio).
