Chief Financial Officer – June 2007 to present
Responsible for worldwide financial functions including external financial reporting, product line profit and loss analysis, strategic planning and assistance to the manufacturing and sales functions of the company. Also assist the CEO in outlining strategies to increase company profitability through better pricing and cost controls.

• Reorganized the global accounting function to support financial reporting and analysis required for recent segmentation of the company’s business into three distinct product lines.

• Work closely with product line general managers to provide financial guidance in the preparation of the annual plan which included strategies for growth and cost containment.

Vice President and Controller – 2005 to June 2007
Responsible for consolidated financial reporting to banks and investment ownership group, tax compliance, inventory costing, all accounting related functions including receivables, payables and payroll processing and the evaluation and implementation of internal controls.

• Completely reorganized the corporate accounting function thereby reducing the monthly closing cycle from 30 days to 12 days in my first two months with the company. Subsequently reduced the closing cycle to three days utilizing the Hyperion Financial Management tool.

• Substantially reduced the audit process which resulted in savings of over $80 thousand.

• Performed an initial evaluation of internal controls and implemented several improvements which resulted in the reduction of errors in the financial reporting and processing functions and generated estimated cash savings of over $100 thousand per year.

• Performed a significant role in the sale of the company to a strategic buyer and was commended by the buyer’s mergers and acquisition specialists as one of the key executives in the Company’s management structure.

Vice President and Controller
Responsible for all aspects of financial reporting including preparation and review of SEC filings, compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, strategic planning and interim reporting, tax compliance and planning, payroll processing, maintenance of company financial records, internal controls, accounts payable, purchasing and asset management. Achievements include:

• Leading the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley efforts that incorporated early implementation of Section 302 requirements, an accelerated plan for compliance with the requirements of Section 404 and an aggressive plan to implement an annual Sarbanes-Oxley process.

• Responsibility for identification and implementation of several tax initiatives related to Federal, state and local taxes that resulted in the Company receiving more than $18 million of refunds and tax benefits.

• Orchestrating efforts to reduce selling, general and administrative expenses over a three year period which resulted in a 35% cumulative reduction of overhead expenses.

• Identifying and collecting $1.4 million of company investments.

• Organizing and completing the transition of the finance and payroll departments from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Deerfield, Illinois on time and without any disruption of work flows. Transition included hiring and training of 32 new staff and implementation of a process review function.

• Implementing Hyperion Essbase financial reporting tool to provide a more dynamic approach for reporting and budgeting and Hyperion Analyzer to provide management with intranet access to financial results.

• Implementation of new accounting processes which resulted in greater depth and understanding of the financial statements and a reduction in the annual audit fee by twenty percent.

Worldwide Logistics Company 1997 to 2000
A $1.6 billion non-asset-based provider of worldwide logistics solutions and transportation services.

Vice President – Corporate Controller
Responsible for financial reporting, planning and internal control functions of the Company including preparation and review of SEC filings, budgeting and strategic planning. Major accomplishments include:

• Orchestrated preparation and filing of the Company’s first public offering of $110 million of Senior Notes filed with the Securities Exchange Commission on Form S-4.

• Responsible for integration of a major European/Asian acquisition into the financial reporting process of the Company.

• Implemented Hyperion Reporting Platform used for actual and budget applications. This initiative resulted in a reduction in the month end close by approximately 5 days.

• Coordinated preparation of five-year strategic model used as the basis to obtain financing for a $27 million acquisition.

• Introduced Company’s first formal quarterly forecasting model and annual planning process for worldwide budgeting and strategic planning.

• Streamlined monthly reporting package including a revision of Key Performance Indicators to provide more meaningful analysis of financial results of business units.

A $3.0 billion distributor of communication products in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Assistant Corporate Controller

• Responsible for the preparation and review of SEC filings, the Company’s annual shareholder report, various internal reports, press releases, periodic shareholders reports as well as debt compliance and governmental reporting requirements.

• Participated in a number of public registrations relating to debt and equity issues including a $200 million shelf registration on Form S-3 and the spin-off and IPO relating to a $400 million division of the Company.

• Responsible for the coordination of all facets of the corporate accounting function including consolidation of the financial statements, implementation of technical pronouncements and, accounting and administrative matters related to the wind down of previously sold businesses.

• Responsible for numerous other corporate functions including payment of 4,000 employees, business travel management and Pension Plan Administration.
