PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Large Automotive OEM 1989 - Present
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, $92 million partially owned subsidiary of Large OEM 2002 - present (Detroit, MI)
I was promoted from Controller of one partially owned subsidiary to the CFO of another partially owned subsidiary. I was given complete CFO responsibilities for this independently run Joint Venture with $92 million in sales. I oversaw financial, accounting, and treasury responsibilities to Board of Directors and the majority shareholder.
When I arrived at the company it was loosing $2.8 million EBIT per year with a management team that did not know why. I immediately instilled a profit culture through implementation of new processes and enhanced financial performance reporting that improved the EBIT by over $8 million in less than twelve months. I also improved pricing processes to eliminate unintentional margin degradation.
I implemented or assisted in significant process changes throughout the company. I assisted in ISO 9001:2000 implementation and full internal control procedures. I assisted in implementing full Sarbanes Oxley Control and Reporting procedures I implemented accounting procedures that improved the cash position by $30 million in under eighteen months primarily through old AR collections and a significant reduction in Days Sales Outstanding.
CONTROLLER, $105 million partially owned subsidiary of Large OEM 1998 - 2002 (mid-west)
I was responsible for all financial reporting to Operations, outside investors, and the banking syndicate. I restructured finance and accounting with major centralization or elimination of tasks and greater than 60% reduction in the work force. I implemented a new accounting system across multiple regions. I became experienced with due diligence procedures in acquisitions and business valuations. I assisted in negotiations for external debt financing, and managed the relationship with the bank syndicate.
SUPERVISOR, ENGINEERING PROCESS IMPROVEMENT, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT 1996 - 1998 (Detroit, MI)
I designed/Launched state of the art Budget, Forecast and Actuals reporting system. I analyzed worldwide engineering spending for all product lines within the company. I implemented complex accounting system replacement.
SUPERVISOR, COST ANALYSIS, Large vehicle assembly plant 1994 - 1996 (mid-west)
I was responsible for all financial reporting for a large assembly plant with over $200 million in operating budget. I worked with process engineers on automation and cost reduction projects to achieve annual budget tasks. I championed a cost savings project that saved over $5 million. I implemented Total Cost Concept at the plant including training operations and engineering on total cost of manufacturing process.
SUPERVISOR, PLANT OPERATIONS ANALYSIS, mid size stamping plant 1992 - 1994 (mid-west)
I was responsible for all financial and operational reporting for a mid-size metal and plastic stamping plant. I assisted Operations in investment analysis of new equipment and procedures. I took a keen interest in operations and was rewarded with the additional responsibilities of line supervision of newly launched plastics line. I took a Die Skills Training course to better understand operational issues.
COST ANALYST, BUDGET CONTROL, VEHICLE OPERATIONS 1991 - 1992 (Detroit, MI)
I compiled and analyzed financial reports for a group of assembly plants throughout North America. I performed competitive analysis between our assembly plants and those of major competitors. I also performed ad hoc analysis in support of Operations.
COST ANALYST, PROJECT ANALYSIS, VEHICLE OPERATIONS 1990 - 1991 (Detroit, MI)
I performed financial analysis for potential investments in assembly plant machinery. I presented these projects to high level management for approval or deferral. While in this position I performed an in-depth study with my supervisor that significantly changed the budgeting process for maintenance people at all North American Assembly plants.
ANALYST, PROJECT ANALYSIS, mid size vehicle assembly plant 1989 - 1990 (mid-west)
I performed financial reporting on all aspects of a midsize assembly plant. I analyzed cost saving projects for financial and business value. I also substituted as an hourly supervisor on the floor on an intermittent basis. In order to better understand the assembly process and associated machinery, I performed a complete physical inventory of process equipment that was three years overdue.
