SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS
- Evaluated domestic and international M&A opportunities that included AOL, IBM Global Networks, Integra France, Genuity, MCI, Sprint, and Sprynet.
- Analyzed various strategic business initiatives including: an alliance with Singapore Telecom to provide global connectivity and data hosting services; joint ventures with Akamai Technologies to provide leading-edge web hosting solutions, and with AOL and Microsoft’s MSN business unit to bundle telecom and internet related services; the disposition of various telephone properties that were no longer of strategic value.
- Developed the strategic rationale for transactions including detailed reviews of target companies, benchmarking analyses, pros and cons, post-acquisition impact; discounted cash flow analyses with comparisons to trading multiples and recent transactions involving publicly traded peers; conducted due diligence; developed deal presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Created policies, procedures, guidelines and financial tools for M&A, business development initiatives and strategic planning exercises.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Provided the analysis for business opportunities and initiatives such as the acquisition of additional spectrum for Verizon’s wireless operations to enable expansion of service capacity; the economics of wireless data build-out versus remote terminal deployment for consumer broadband services to contain costs and preserve profit margins; the economics of on-line gaming as a broadband service and the acquisition of a video/audio-streaming service provider to generate new sources of revenue.
- Developed the economic model used to support Verizon’s decision to partner with DirecTV to offer video service as part of a bundle of telecom services, which reduced customer turn-over and created sales uplift for non-video services.
- Evaluated the economics of IP telephony as a next generation, lower cost alternative to traditional telephone service, which led to deployment of Verizon’s VoiceWing™ broadband service in order to mitigate the negative effects on subscriber churn rates due to low cost competition.
- Initiated and directed the design of a first time advertising program in both print and online media that increased brand awareness, attracted new customers and improved revenues.

CORPORATE FINANCE
- Negotiated and secured a half-million dollar credit line for a first time borrower in a financial market dominated by risk-averse lending institutions, which provided the means to grow the business.
- Optimized cash and financial position to minimize financing costs, ensure compliance with loan covenants and preserve excellent vendor relationships.
- Developed an economic model to evaluate software development proposals which brought greater financial rigor to the product review process.
