PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
INNOVATIVE DEVICES, INC. (Mid-Atlantic) January 2004 – May 2010
A medical device company with a cancer-fighting platform utilizing endoscopically-delivered liquid nitrogen to selectively destroy a range of unwanted tissues. Recruited five-member product development team from Becton Dickinson to develop the system, consisting of a durable component (treatment console) and a single use sterile disposable (catheter). Hired sales and marketing talent to commercialize product.

President/CEO/Board Member
Hired by Board to turn around seed-funded start-up through fund-raising and driving the company’s early stage technology concept through product development and into the US market. Raised over $20 million from private and institutional investors while leading the company through product, clinical, regulatory, reimbursement, and sales milestones. Drove initial product sales from zero to $2,275,000. Cultivated multiple strategic opportunities including international distribution, out-licensing, partial, and total acquisition.

Select accomplishments include:
• Established a 90% gross profit margin disposable catheter business with a four-year compounded annual growth rate of 227%;
• Secured over 70 high-profile hospital installations and 200 physician users with the company’s first generation product;
• Developed over 150 hospitals and 300 physicians backlog in the company’s second-generation product (yet to be released);
• Increased product list price by 215% over four years while simultaneously increasing unit sales;
• Established deep and trusted relationships with over 100 clinicians and key opinion leaders in the fields of thoracic surgery, interventional pulmonology, ENT surgery, surgical oncology, and gastroenterology;
• Recruited over 40 employees from BD, JNJ, Axcan, etc., including top talent for key leadership positions with over 70 years of combined medical device experience;
• Created two medical advisory boards to help the company analyze and shape the technology and go to market strategy;
• Designed and executed over 10 clinical studies and product registries resulting in 63 manuscripts, abstracts, and posters;
• Generated eleven (11) provisional, two (2) issued, and eighteen (18) international patents;
• Advanced the company’s products via five (5) new product development projects and field upgrades.
• Developed and implemented a regulatory strategy supported by laboratory and clinical evidence culminating in four 510k’s issued by the FDA;
• Cultivated a strong network of investors via three (3) equity rounds and two (2) convertible debt investments.

$30 million dollar international specialty chemical manufacturing & distribution company serving the fluid-cracking catalyst, zeolyte, and paper industries.
