1976 - 2001 ELECTRONIC DATA SYSTEMS Frazer, Pennsylvania Client Delivery Executive
Joined this information technology outsourcer as a systems engineer and contributed to it's success initially in application development and later in total IT outsourcing, as it climbed from 5,000 employees and $150 million annual revenue to 130,000 employees and $21.5 billion revenue.
PROGRAM AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE '96 Client Delivery Executive
Expanded a long-term relationship with a $500 million Computer Services client from an outsourced data center agreement of $42 million, into a full IT outsourcing agreement of $350 million, extending the contract length 11 years beyond the original 5-year agreement. Took over responsibility for all functionality of the IT department, transitioned client technicians from 15 sites around the country, and managed the $40 million budget.
Designed an organization with 9 direct reports, 100 client-site technicians, and 12 matrixed support-organizations to implement efficiencies while providing improved IT services. Implemented a project management organization with new change and problem management processes, created a cost saving initiative saving millions in existing vendor agreements, implemented a new application development organizational approach to efficiently utilize the skills of the technicians, and implemented asset management to more efficiently use the latest technology for the benefit of the client's 5,000 employees.
'91 Account Manager
Re-joined the Communications Industry Group to work on a client team performing a Business Process Re-engineering engagement. As a result of this effort, won a sole-source agreement to provide technical resources and manage a joint-team of 100 technicians developing a new customer information system for a major business product in the telecommunications industry. Responsible for application development, client relationship, $10 million P&L, and human resource management.
Because of the relationship I had developed with the Communications Industry Group Vice-President, when he signed a contract with a new client in the Computer Services industry, he asked me to be the Account Manager responsible for the client relationship and the delivery of all services to that client. Managed the implementation of the data center outsource and created a relationship with multiple management levels of the new client that proved beneficial to my company as the executive management of my client experienced heavy amounts of turnover.
Worked as a partner with my client, adding support in the areas of application development, networking, and equipment purchases. Increased annual profit margin of this agreement by 16% through additional sales and reduced expenses when called upon by the Chief Operating Officer of my company to attempt a target of 3%.
'89 Director of Claims & Investigations
Recruited by the Vice-President of a new Property & Casualty Account to join his team implementing a very large agreement with the New Jersey State Department of Insurance. Created and managed the Special Investigations Unit with a team of 50 investigators tasked with reducing insurance fraud, waste, and abuse. In the first two six-month State audits, earned the highest score among all competitors.
Requested and received the assignment to repair the failing Claims Department on this Account. Through organization and process adjustments, improved the audit score for the Department by 45 percent within 6 months of taking over a staff of 400 and a $36 million budget.
'87 Account Operations Manager
Pursued an opportunity to expand my responsibility into the management of the complete business relationship with the client. The Account Operations Manager role opened at our Fisher Guide client within the General Motors agreement. Responsible for contract administration at the Trenton site, including customer interface, P&L management, and personnel administration. Provided all data processing and telephone services for the location. Upon arrival, immediately took the initiative to replace antiquated data center and print operation equipment with state-of-the-art equipment. This dramatically reduced application run time, improved reliability, and had a major positive impact on employee moral.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE '84 Systems Integration Manager
Joined an account to migrate the Department of the Navy's Inventory Control Points data centers from old technology to a state-of-the-art environment. Managed the system software team and the associated client relationship. Created the mainframe platform and supported the client software engineers during the migration from the existing to the new systems.
Re-joined the Communications Industry Group to provide marketing support on systems integration opportunities in the Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey area. A joint venture with one of our telecommunications clients was created to take advantage of both companies core competencies, and I was asked to cover this geographic area working with the partner's sales staff. Made sales calls, reviewed requests for proposal, identified opportunities and coordinated the proposal effort.
'80 Project Manager
Asked to join the creation of a team to support a new client in the Petroleum industry. Initially contributed as a systems engineer, then promoted to be team leader of a team developing a front-end processor for an existing MSA Payroll package.
When a new client was signed in the Telecommunications industry, selected to be on the team to work with the client's staff to develop a major data-migration application. Developed the specifications for the applications and associated processes to migrate all business client data from the existing Bell Operating Companies to the newly created AT&T as a part of the divestiture of the Bell System. Represented the application development groups in the negotiation sessions between the companies. Project manager for the first data migration, Iowa Bell, and the largest, Pacific Bell.
'76 Systems Engineer
In Phase I of training program, received on-the-job training as a systems analyst working with the client's analysts learning the Healthcare business.
For Phase II, was a student in an intensive 10-week classroom-training program learning COBOL, ALC, software development life cycle methodology, time management, and presentation skills. Recognized for contributing the extra effort to assist other students throughout the class.
Completed Phase III of the development program as an application programmer in a central support group for Banking and Thrift clients. Developed an online application for a new mortgage warehousing business function. Management recognized my leadership abilities and selected me to be in the first group of participants of a newly formed corporate management-training program. Became team leader of a group of 10 Systems Engineers developing a mortgage loan processing application.
