Parent company of 5 core brands (Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, A&W and Long John Silvers) with sales in excess of $24B with over 33,000 company and franchise restaurants worldwide.

Director II, Corporate Systems, Restaurant Information Services 2000-2005
Responsible for leadership and management of up to 50 people through five direct reports with budget accountability up to $7M for the above store application suite for multiple Yum companies in a shared services IT environment. Performed application service level and support management, project development and delivery, client management, resource management, program management, conflict resolution, and career development.

• Co-developed the disaster recovery strategy and 3 year plan for Yum. Published first, comprehensive disaster recovery plan. Directed the development of the application disaster recovery plans and the vendor audit process.

• Completed an international Customer Service Center Study that documented best practices and key performance indices in the areas of technology, people and business processes. First phase of a multi-phase project to share findings and technology guidelines / solutions to company and franchise units.

• Directed the Taco Bell organization restructuring which migrated the Application Development and Support organization to Louisville, KY in 4 phases in support of consolidating application management to one location.
• Led teams to deliver (web / e-business, client server, mainframe) applications for Operations, Marketing, Asset Development, Franchise/License Administration, Product Development, Finance and Human Resources. Emphasis was primarily on development of KPI / Performance Scorecards that measured and tracked restaurant and field leaders’ performance for company and franchise restaurants, and standardizing business processes and applications across multiple Yum brands.
• Founding member of the Taco Bell Technology Steering Committee (PMO) chartered with partnering with business customers in aligning IT projects with business strategy; prioritizing and tracking projects; resolving issues and gaining alignment; and introducing new technologies to the customers. Taco Bell’s PMO reported up to Yum’s PMO through monthly “Stop Light” reporting on 4 metrics – time, budget, quality and alignment.
• Drove and influenced Customer Mania culture and How We Work Together Principles within team by setting customized targets per individual to meet individual and team goals. Led team building activities within Irvine IT campus to build team spirit, define customer mania behavior and build upon collaboration and teamwork principles. Developed team’s project management competency, web and client server technical abilities, and leadership skills.

• Increased team efficiencies and reduced costs through the retiring of non-strategic development tools, applications and reports to facilitate application consolidation and organization restructuring.

• Managed the initiative which completed the initial design to develop a common interface for all brands to take operational store data from a new, custom Back of House restaurant system to 70+ company and franchise applications. Established a franchise services direction to align with this strategy.
• As Site Lead for the Restaurant Information Services (IT) department at the Irvine office, held quarterly department meetings to cascade technology and PMO direction, provide business updates, and lead team building activities.

Director I, Taco Bell Y2K Project 1997 – 2000

• Led the 3 year, $13M Year 2000 compliance project for Taco Bell. Responsibilities included Y2K readiness for 180+ above-store and in-store applications, restaurant and office equipment for 7000+ company/ franchisee/licensee stores, desktop software, and vendor/supply chain companies. Created a Y2K readiness class and Success Kit that was cascaded nationwide to Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. Received 3 separate recognition awards from the Taco Bell and Yum executives.

Senior Manager, Corporate Systems, Restaurant Information Services 1996 - 1997
• Managed the development of a Transaction Level Detail data warehouse and decision support system for Marketing that captured consumer purchasing behaviors and restaurant level operations processes. First consumer insight from the system saved the company $500K.
• Replaced two large Taco Bell financial applications concurrently (Computer Associates General Ledger and Accounts Payable) with the GEAC software package in support of their first phase of ERP. This multi-location team was one of the first projects in support of IT’s strategic standardization direction of one common system for all brands.
• Managed the HR Application Team and the Fee Management System support (first Visual Basic application).

Manager 1995 - 1996

• Organized new team to serve as an Integrator and Support partner for a Real Estate client in support of a custom client server, real estate application for client’s franchisees. Responsibilities included contract negotiations, sales, pilot implementation, and development of an integration, implementation and support model strategy to be customized for each real estate franchisee in the areas of network architecture, software configuration, imaging, testing, training and data interfaces to common financial systems and Multiple Listing Services.

Senior Management Consultant 1993 – 1995

• At Nissan Motors, managed the technology component of a very large initiative to stabilize and enhance McCormick & Dodge’s financial systems suite. Improved system performance, fixed production inventory problems, and significantly updated systems to support new business processes for the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Purchasing, and Financial Reporting disciplines.

• At Taco Bell, completed a feasibility study to recommend the automation of two manual field bonus programs.
