Director of Business Analysis and Planning, Finance Department (1999 to Oct. 2008)
Consulted with senior management on all aspects of managing the business. Member of Corporate Strategic Planning Committee responsible for the development and management of key strategic initiatives and special projects. Change agent credited with introducing to management “balanced scorecard” methodologies to measure key success factors. Coached a staff of three analysts.
Corporate Strategic Planning:
* Project Manager for Corporate Strategic Planning. Developed strategic planning document working with the Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning, the Strategic Planning Committee, and KPMG. Managed and evaluated planning process with Microsoft Project Management software.
* Led and facilitated the strategic planning process for the Merchandising and Retail Operations departments, resulting in doubling of corporate profits. Created Vision, 5 Year Strategy, Critical Success Factors, Key Performance Indicators, and Departmental Scorecards. Efforts resulted in cultural change with emphasis on individual accountability.
Special Projects / Studies:
* Delivered a variety of strategic market assessments to New Business Development, which led to entering the Rent-to-Own business, enhanced floor layout for youth furniture, and updated company Ecommerce/Web Site.
* Created and implemented a Site Selection Process with use of AnySite Site Selection and MapInfo Sales Predictability Model incorporating demographics, business and lifestyle data, and store financial pro formas. Efforts resulted in optimized store locations and sales, and in one case, saved the company $5 million.
* Partnered with the Information Technology Department for improved Business Intelligence. Created data cubes and data warehouses; designed management team and executive dashboards. This allowed for knowledgeable decision making, such as the creation of a customer credit management database and cube which contributed to new delinquency modeling, saving the company $500,000.
* Participated on Web Development Ecommerce Team and used Google Analytics for analysis. Provided direction to improve web site design and look.
* Developed the Merchandising Department Category Management and Planning Process to optimize product mix and margins contributing to improvement in profitability by 200 basis points. This process was a key contributor to the company’s doubling of profits in 2003, and has continued to be applied in supply chain and merchandising.
Financial and Data Analysis:
* Performed a variety of financial and investment analyses to limit risk and maximize return on investment.
* Analyzed credit risk and profitability of existing in-house customer credit financing packages. Introduced new 24-month interest free financing and 36- month extended terms financing.
