GCS is a professional services consultancy for business strategy and technical project management.
Principal

* Retained as interim VP of Technology/CTO for a fast-growing healthcare technology firm to lead the new product development of a revolutionary application for significantly reducing Workers Compensation costs.

* Led the integration of MS BizTalk for connecting multiple applications in both the healthcare and criminal justice industries that allowed for over 3M transactions with virtually no downtime, utilizing HL7 and HIPAA X12.

* Participated in the continual development of the technical strategy for the first dental practice management ASP.


DENTAL CONNECT, INC. Irvine, California
2000 – 2004

Dental Connect, Inc. was owned by 8 of the largest dental payers, representing 40% of the marketplace and operated the Dentalxchange.com websites. DCI was the leading provider of Internet-based applications for the $60B dental industry.

Chief Information Officer

Part of the team that grew the company from 25 to over 150 people in 12 months. Hired, managed and mentored a 44-person team consisting of developers, project managers, QA, network engineers, IT support and others while managing a $750k monthly budget. Led the product development of ClaimConnect, Dentist Directory and other related products.

* Led the development of ClaimConnect – an online claims, real-time eligibility/benefit and payment status application – used by over 10% of all dental offices nationwide to process more than 20M transactions.

* In four years lost only 2 team members to voluntary turnover and several laid-off team members volunteered to return when business improved and 2 ultimately did comeback.

* Led the technical analysis and review, and integration, of 2 acquired firms.

* Active member of the executive committee that collaborated with the board on the strategic and tactical direction of the firm; the board was comprised predominantly of Fortune 500 executives.

* Led the strategy to develop and implement best practices relating to the display of HIPAA transactions with DCI’s strategic alliances; Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, UnitedHealth, Ameritas and other large payers.

* Over $13M of strategic investments were made based on the technical capabilities of Dental Connect.

* Managed the production web systems for claims and eligibility processing that had over 20,000 transactions per day, within strict SLA requirements imposed by MetLife, while maintaining uptimes of over 99.97%.

* Developed mutual sign-on security in partnership with MetLife that allowed upwards of 6,000 clients to log into www.metdental.com without vulnerability to either firms’ infrastructure.

* Developed the security infrastructure for Aetna and maintained all user names and passwords for Aetnadental.com.

* Led the ERP integration of Great Plains eEnterprise (now Dynamics) and integrated modules with custom XML Web Services for end-to-end supply chain partnering under budget and ahead of schedule.

* Implemented a secure data warehouse utilized by internal personnel and the customer service departments of several large customers, including MetLife, Aetna, UnitedHealth, Guardian, Cigna and Quality Systems

* Personally negotiated agreements in excess of $2.5M with strategic partners and customers, including Aetna, MetLife, UnitedHealth, Guardian, Delta Dental, Cigna, Savvis and Quality Systems.

* Automated the training process for over 1,800 MetLife customer service representatives allowing for an accelerated rollout of the ClaimConnect application for MetLife.

* Created and launched the dental industry’s largest E-Learning catalog of CERP- accredited continuing education courses for the licensed dental industry professionals.

1999 - 2000

Red Sky was a leading-edge professional services company specializing in custom software development, 3rd party application integration and branding solutions.

Director of Production, West Coast (Project Management)

Led cross-country teams for this fast growing consulting company consisting of code architects, developers, designers, network engineers and analysts to create e-commerce, supply chain, hardware infrastructure and branded websites for Fortune 500 and “start-up” clients.

Key Projects:

* Sony – Led the re-branding initiative and technical implementation of Sony’s home page; Sony.com.

* Exult (now Hewitt) – Spearheaded the development of the initial prototype web pages utilized to secure several million dollars in funding and launch their sales initiatives.

* Logix Communications – Led the development of a user customizable home pages for their DSL customers.

* Entrepreneur Magazine – Led the creation of a secure content management application that controls the display of all information on Entrepreneur.com.
