Executive Job Description | Our client is a global $1.5 Billion publicly traded company located in the northeastern US. The company manufactures, wholesales, and retails more than 25,000 CPG products.
Responsibility:
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, this position will provide direction and motivation to an independent sales force of 40 Sales Representatives nationwide. This position will be relied upon to drive profitable, top-line sales to Independent Retail Outlets. The successful candidate will ensure all company objectives are communicated and executed at the account level in an acceptable and timely manner. Accordingly, this person will develop and continually evaluate sales personnel, as well as organizational structures and sales techniques applied in the field by his or her team.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong sales management background for consumer packaged goods in the independent retail channel. This track record of success would ideally be associated with a background in nutritional supplements. They will also have strong contacts distributed throughout the United States within the independent retail channel and be able to demonstrate an outstanding awareness of and successful results in the unique characteristics of this channel and will "hit the ground running" to generate a positive impact on various aspects of the business within the first 90 days of employment.
Requirements:
5+ years of extensive Field Sales Management experience for consumer products sold to independent retailers. Ability to conduct, plan and direct business trend analysis. Elements of a broader business background that demonstrates business savvy needed to drive market share and profitability for a consumer product line sold through the independent retail channel. Develop, update and monitor all tracking and compliance forms on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. Monitor, manage, and approve expense reports from the field. Negotiate contracts, provide progressive strategies, and coordinate internal components. Coordinate approval of all promotional programs for every account. Comply with and effectively execute requests from corporate headquarters on a weekly basis. Prepare and deliver written performance evaluations for all direct reports and oversee similar processes for the next level of field sales staff. Monitor planograms and add/deletes with accounts. Implement corporate strategy with respect to brand placement at each particular account location. Work with Marketing on the development of promotional programs for all U.S. brands sold through the independent outlet channel. Monitor pricing issues to identify and correct discrepancies. Coordinate between Marketing and Sales on new pricing strategies. Ensure all retail pricing objectives are achieved in the field. Excellent communication, strong organizational and time management skills. Miscellaneous:
Provide direction and make decisions on customer service issues. Manage returns for all customers and monitor consistent implementation of established return policy. React to and prioritize requests from Sales Management, Marketing, Finance, Sales Administration and any other internal departments. Attend sales calls, when major issues or opportunities warrant. Attend regional sales meetings at corporate headquarters and in the field. Plan and coordinate all sales aspects of commercial activity needed to drive the business by driving top line sales and overall profitability, optimizing relationships with independent retailers and building targeted brand identity throughout the channel.
