Executive Job Description | VP of Property Taxes sought for Indianopolis office (client will pay for full relocation) to be responsible for the property tax management across the firm’s portfolio of properties, with an overall value of approximately $600 Billion. He/She will develop and implement a focused and comprehensive approach to minimizing property taxes that combines the fundamentals of property tax management with a strategic business oriented approach to achieve the desired outcomes.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:
o Develop and execute a business driven strategy and plan for the Property Tax initiative o Direct and manage all aspects of the Property Tax department and staff. o Develop and maintain analytical, statistical and financial reports and benchmarks to measure strategic outcomes and prioritize property tax activities. o Develop and manage key relationships with internal and/external resources, including key Executives and Management. o Direct all aspects of contract management, including development, negotiation, execution and oversight o Financial and fiscal management, including reporting, budgets and forecasts o Develop, implement, and manage plans to pro-actively monitor federal, state and local legislative and regulatory activities, as well as industry trends and market values across the United States, to support the development and management of the Property Tax policy. o Effectively communicate with key stakeholders on all aspects of property tax activity including appeals, industry trends, local and state legislation, and other activities influencing property tax o Pro-actively communicate with Field and Corporate staff on fundamental property tax matters as well as strategic direction and outcomes
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
o Proven ability to lead and mentor in a team setting. o Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, set and achieve goals and function with minimal supervision. o Possess strong organizational and analytical skills, with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail, excellent managerial and verbal/written communication skills. o Must have the ability to communicate effectively and successfully with all levels of the organization, including Senior and Executive Management o Must be capable of making creative and persuasive business cases o Possess extensive contract management and negotiation skills and experience o Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and Lotus Notes. Required Experience and Education: o Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related discipline. o MBA in Finance is required o 20+ years of Property Tax experience for a multi-state company, preferably in the retail industry. o Financial management, including budgets, forecasting and property tax database experience. o Experience with and/or knowledge of real estate tax law is desired. o Must be well versed in the fundamentals of property tax and property tax management in the United States and Puerto Rico. |
