Executive Job Description | VP Product Development & Loyalty Top Credit Card Issuer Position Description
Client Overview
Our client is a leading regional bank with a strong performance track record over many years. They are also one of the largest credit card issuers in the United States. They desire to significantly grow this business at this time and are seeking a Vice President New Product Development & Loyalty to help drive further growth of this critical profit contributor for the bank.
The VP Product Development & Loyalty is a new position and will report directly to the President of the Cards Business as well as be part of the Card Business Leadership Committee. The VP Product Development & Loyalty will have a staff of six to seven including three managers as direct reports as well as utilize third party vendors. This position is located in an attractive mid sized city in the Midwest and requires relocation.
Key Accountabilities
The major responsibilities for the VP Product Development & Loyalty are to research and test launch new credit card products. The key accountabilities include: • Competitive Analysis: Review industry trends and market place offers and products in order to respond quickly and develop effective marketing plans. Manage customer and competitor research vendors. • Customer Intelligence/Research: Create environment that allows for customer feedback and perspective to help develop relevant product set and value added benefits. • Rewards development and enhancement: Create and/or enhance rewards programs based on industry trends and research that encourages customer loyalty and spend. Manage rewards program vendors, set up, accruals, point system, and creative. • Product Lab: Create an industry leading capability for a test and control environment allowing for multiple iterations of products to determine optimal product, positioning, creative, offer and target audience. • Product Development: Utilize a market segmentation driven approach to develop key offers and product set among retail and national distribution as well as effectively manage product costs and pricing. Develop fee based services for proprietary and wholesale products. • Communications: Drive customer communication to enhance loyalty and promote product benefits.
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate for the VP Product Development & Loyalty will be currently leading new product development for a top credit card issuer with a proven track record. The desired candidate will also have the following experience: • Over 12 years of credit card marketing experience including new product development and loyalty/rewards program development • Over 7 years of management experience with strong leadership and communication skills • Product Development as well as market research and analysis background including proven management of external vendors for market research and new card product market testing • Ability to demonstrate multitasking and working autonomously • Ability to work effectively across multiple business functions • Bachelors degree is required and an MBA is preferred
