Executive Job Description | A rapidly growing diagnostics company is in search of a Vice President-Manufacturing Operations for its East Coast location. The VP will provide executive representation, leadership, and oversight for the company’s Manufacturing Operations strategies and programs. He/She will be responsible for Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality Control, Materials Management and other operations/quality functions to ensure a consistent manufacturing pipeline for the company's existing and new IVD products. The Vice President-Manufacturing Operations is responsible for operational management and leadership of a 2 plants of 150+ employees based in the Coast and Asia for a global diagnostics and medical device manufacturer. The position reports reports to the CEO. Critical metrics for this position include Customer Delivery Performance, Inventory Turns, Productivity, Scrap, Process Quality, Recordable Injury Rate and Budget. Key Duties, Activities and Responsibilities may include:
- Develops, implements, and monitors annual expense and capital budgets for the Manufacturing Operations Department as well as approves and monitors budgets for other departments. - Recruits, trains, develops, and leads Manufacturing Operations Senior Staff. Performs annual reviews for Plant Senior Staff. - Interfaces with internal and external customers as required to ensure customer needs (quality, service, cost) are consistently met. - Responsible for outgoing quality of products. - Oversees the development and practice of Plant EH&S policies and procedures to ensure facility is in compliance with company, local, State, and Federal policies. - Interfaces with R&D, Sales, and Marketing functions as required to smoothly transition new products into commercialization phase and improve profitability of existing products. - Establishes and maintains necessary measurement systems to report performance to objectives. - Develops an annual Business Plan that supports Company's manufacturing goals and objectives. - Monitors weekly performance to critical measurements (schedule, CDP, scrap, uptime, productivity, inventory) and makes adjustments to plan as required to meet annual objectives. - Coordinates activities between Business Teams and Support Departments so that Manufacturing Operations objectives are met.
Work Experience, Skills and Education Required:
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Operations or Management. Advanced degree preferred or relevant professional experience. - Minimum of 15 years management experience in the Manufacturing Operations area of IVD and medical devices, including GMP manufacturing. 7-10 of which includes supervisory experience. - Minimum of 7 years experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/ or similar Quality Continuous Improvement Programs in the IVDP industry. - Knowledge in at least (3) of the following functional areas (typically gained through 15 years of related industrial experience) in 1) operation management manufacturing or process engineering , 2) quality control and materials management . - Demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. This skill is typically gained through a progressive career path that includes positions with significant cross-functional interactions. - Demonstrated strong analytical problem solving skills. This skill is typically gained through education and demonstrated strong work related accomplishments. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload based on business metrics. - Demonstrated ability to set and manage Capital and Expense budgets that support Business Objectives. - Demonstrated ability in time/project management skills. Working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma. This knowledge is typically gained through education and work experience in a manufacturing facility that operates under a continuous improvement philosophy. |
