Executive Job Description | A highly rated community bank seeks a VP, Commercial Lending Officer for its Northern New Jersey location. Reports to: SVP/Loan Production Office (LPO) Manager
Key Duties, Activities and Responsibilities:
- Primary duty is to originate sales, obtain orders or contracts. Also to solicit new commercial loans; maintain/retain portfolio; cross sell other bank products and services to clients; manage portfolio delinquency. - Review accounts for other business opportunities for the bank such as Deposits, Cash Management, FFA (investments) and Merchant Services - Call on potential or existing customers to determine need for other bank services such as: lending products, retail banking products, financial services or insurance needs - Present loans to Loan Committee and/or Board when applicable - Review, analyze and interpret financial statements of prospects as necessary - Assist with Collections when necessary on loans in portfolio - Assist other lenders if necessary - Allocate work assign tasks to other office personnel - Perform other duties, relevant to the position, as assigned - Analyze applicant’s capacity to repay and determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk within loan policy guidelines. - Obtain and direct the analysis of all necessary financial data. - Conduct credit check, conduct or initiate EPA assessments and make site visit as necessary. - Establish lending limits, or make recommendations to senior management and/or loan committee if outside of lending authority. - Monitor existing loans to ensure compliance with terms and recognition of any developing trends and directs the drafting of all necessary loan documents and agreements. - Promote and support the Community Development Efforts of the bank. - Will initiate and service a variety of loans with emphasis on commercial. - Knowledge of Commercial loan underwriting, analysis and presentation. - Develop and build new banking relationships.
Work Experience, Skills and Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience. - 5 years or more of relevant experience. (may be substituted by Senior Lending Management for degree) - Prior loan portfolio management - Time Management skills - Interpersonal skills and proper telephone etiquette - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Understanding of Compliance rules and regulations for lending - Ability to give one-on-one or group presentations - Ability to interpret financial data of clients - Ability to attend and be a member of community organizations - Local lender with knowledge of local business. - Must be able and willing to underwrite own deals including credit viability. - Must be a lender who understands cash flow lending. - Must be a "producer" and not just a "manager". - Must be a team player. - Must be a community bank lender - not national bank lender - Must have formal lending training.
