Our client has retained us to help this important The client is developing the most efficient and reliable inverters and energy management systems for the solar photovoltaic industry.
Position Summary
Design and develop high volume photovoltaic grid-tied Microinverters. The units have a very small footprint, are low power (<200W, <250V) and are very high efficiency. The Microinverters are digitally controlled, rated for outdoor use and are highly reliable.
New developments will center on efficiency improvements and cost reduction through the use of new topologies.
Requirements
· Expertise in DC/DC converters; Flyback, Buck, Boost, Full bridge, Soft switching, Resonant, ZVS etc...
· Expertise in DC/AC converters: VSI, CSI, Matrix, etc.
· Ability to analyze and derive equations for unfamiliar circuits
· Expertise in analog and digital control theory and implementations. Bode plots, gain/phase margin, Z transforms, stability analysis have to be mastered.
· Deep understanding of the theory and application of magnetic circuits. Steinmetz parameters, Eddy current losses, fringe effects, skin effects have to be mastered.
· Deep understanding of semiconductor switches and related parasitics
· Deep understanding of passive components and related parasitics
· Experience in power loss analysis and reduction
· Solid foundation in PCB layout strategies
· Ability to model and simulate complex circuits
· Ability to write Python or Matlab scripts
· Hands-on experience with safety and compliance regulations, both American and International
· Hands-on experience in a lab. Oscilloscopes, spectrum & network analyzers, Power meters, voltmeters, etc. have to be used efficiently. Metrology concepts have to be well understood.
· UL1741 knowledge
Requirements
Relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area is required.
