Executive Job Description | Immediate opening available for a Sr. Software Pre-Sales Engineer with strong Java and Object Oriented background. This is a permanent position with our client in McLean - VA.

Our client is a European-based company that develops software solutions for high performance visualization of geospatial information over networks. Their software components are the building blocks for mission-critical Aviation and Command and Control systems, providing controllers and commanders with fast and extremely precise situational awareness.
Job Description:
You will serve as the main driver of the company's commercial process. In close collaboration with the sales, product development, and service teams, the Sr. Software Pre-Sales Engineer takes ownership of all technical aspects of an existing prospective customer's project.
Responsibilities:
Perform technical pre sales activities, from initial customer contact, technical proposals, to contract closure, in the form of analysis, advice, and presentation to the customer for the right solution that will fully meet the market expectations and requirements
A substantial amount of time is spent with the customer to understand his/her needs while building the solution leveraging company's product portfolio and your expertise.
You will communicate and translate the software's technical features into tangible and convincing customer benefits
Job Requirements
Candidates must have at least a M.S degree in Computer Science or a related field (Mathematics, Physics)
Over 6 years of experience as a customer facing senior software engineer. Counsel to customers, or as on-site engineering consultancy and training, or as Lead in requirements capture, design and architecture decisions
Excellent understanding of the use of Object Oriented design patterns
Practiced expertise in developing in Java (SE, EE, ME), OpenGL, Web services (OGC, SOAP, REST, A]AX, FLEX). Experience with GIS, C++ or .NET is considered a plus
Experience in working with IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse)
Proven experience in mastering and working with COTS or Open Source
Affinity for Human Machine Interface software development
Experience with database client software development
Ability to effectively report to the customer and to management
Demonstrated excellent, outgoing communication skills, both orally and in writing Strong analytical and abstract reasoning skills
Functional skills
Experience in responding to RFI and RFQs
Experience in developing data models is considered a plus
Experience with the Defense 8, Security, the Intelligence or the ATC/ATM markets is considered a plus
