Executive Job Description | Manager of Financial Engineering Development and Production Services Position Description: This is a permanent position located in Boston. He/she will work in the Financial Engineering group in a research, development and production environment. The primary role will be software and database development as well as maintaining FE’s production processes, but this position will require someone who can think on his or her feet and learn new subject matter quickly. The successful candidate will be very intelligent, hands-on, highly motivated, and driven to create flawless software in mission critical applications. He will lead Financial Engineering’s Development and Production Services team. The responsibilities include: · review and enhancement of the existing architecture, business processes, data and process flow, database schemas with the goal to generalize the system by adding new security types. The tasks require strong OOD, C++, and database design skills, as well as a passion for and pride in getting it right the first time. · development and maintenance of new and existing databases · assist Financial Engineering research analysts in implementing new financial models and analytics · eventually become the subject matter expert for US equities market data. End-of-Day, Tick data, Security Master, Corporate Actions, Level 2 (limit order book), direct exchange feeds, and more. · maintenance of an equities market data BackOffice system written in OO/C++ operating in 24/7 mode Job Requirements: · 10+ years practical experience developing and supporting C++ application programs in a Unix (Solaris) environment. · experience with equity market data preferable · proven record of leading a group successfully · very good knowledge of object-oriented design techniques, including knowledge of UML · proficient in perl, shell scripting, and general Unix tools · Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases in large scale systems · expert in database design (must have designed real databases and understand concepts of Normalization/DeNormalization) · strong written and verbal communication skills · highly self-disciplined, detail and results oriented · must have flexible schedule and willingness to support production problems in emergency off hours situations.
