CLIENT OVERVIEW:
Our client is a leading global insurance company with a strong track record of profitable growth and leading market positions in the segments it serves. It is a top ten US insurance firm, a Fortune 250 organization, and recognized as one of the Americas Most Admired firms with about $15 billion in revenues.
Their IT organization is centralized and organized by business unit and function. There has been a recent reorganization. There is an immediate need for an IT Program Manager to join this top ten property casualty insurer reporting the Head of the Claims IT PMO. The position is located conveniently in an attractive New York City suburb.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT Program Manager is responsible for successfully managing and overseeing complex projects that span across a few programs within Claims IT. This includes participating in the strategic planning and implementation of mid size Claims IT strategies and initiatives as well as supporting the Senior PMO Manager department-wide program analyses. The IT Program Manager key responsibilities include: Executes the vision and the strategic direction of the PMO function for Claims IT Partner with Claims IT CIO and other Claims IT senior managers to develop, manage and evolve the Claims IT strategic roadmap and program/project portfolio in alignment with Chubb and Corporate IT strategy and business priorities Define Claims IT project management methodologies in adherence to Project Management standards; drive innovation and adoption of leading practices and provide Subject Matter expertise to Claims IT team members and/or business partners related to project management function, process and/or tools Manages the risk profile of assigned Claims IT projects, adheres to strategic decisions made by the Claims Sr. PMO Manager Oversee Claims IT performance metrics and projections, and monitor key Claims IT program metrics such as cost, schedule and quality indicators Provides guidance to Claims IT demand and resource management regarding resource forecasts, mobility of resources, open Claims IT needs, and immediate resource demands Monitors Claims IT vendor management strategy at the program level, may participate in vendor negotiation and contact development, and provide oversight to ongoing vendor management where needed. Provide oversight to the development and implementation of the Claims IT knowledge management process Regularly communicates with Sr. Claims IT Program Manager to keep current of the ongoing workload and resolution of issues that present risk to on time implementation and completion of programs Serve as a lead project manager for mid-size complex and/or strategic programs and projects, collaborating with Claims IT, Corporate IT and other appropriate stakeholders to define their objectives and set up the project plan Demonstrate management presence and the ability to effectively handle and coordinate multiple or competing objectives, and maintain a positive attitude in a variety of situations Participate in Claims IT and Chubb-wide project management working groups and activities to stay current on the latest project management solutions and to ensure the proposed project management processes, tools and metrics are aligned to the current and future Corporate IT objectives Maintain a broad business and IT product knowledge, including the impact of industry trends, regulatory environment, and relevant best practices on the Claims IT business and operations Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of business process and products across Claims and Claims IT, and establish strong working relationships with functional counterparts and vendors Promote use of knowledge management/ sharing processes and tools
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal IT Program Manager needs the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor's Degree (required) or Master's Degree (preferred) 8-10 years of experience in managing a Project Management function and provide oversight and guidance to medium complexity program and projects Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management or Professional (PMP) certification strongly desired Knowledge of CMM and Six Sigma methodologies and standards Excellent project management skills, including ability to execute and prioritize a number of tasks simultaneously, and experience managing cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to interface with senior executives and serve Proven financial management experience Expert understanding of IT environments, technologies in relation to business needs Proven expert understanding and practical experience with analysis and/or support to Claims business processes Experience using enterprise project management applications such as Clarity Experience in initiating, conducting and facilitating discussions with multiple stakeholders, and ability to translate the results and issues at hand to the business and to the IT teams Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal/relationship management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
