Executive Job Description | POSITION DESCRIPTION and QUALIFICATIONS for Executive Vice President, Business Development - JIEDDO/Counter IED
Specifically the ideal candidate will possess senior executive skills and experience in the following areas:
•Known as a credible and knowledgeable business developer possessing a demonstrated ability to develop and sustain relationships at the highest levels within the government customer and integrator communities. •Most importantly, must possess proven experience building an organization that will accommodate and support rapid expansion and improvement of existing Federal business. •Individual should have a strong working knowledge of DoD technology development process, especially as it relates to the transition of new technology and systems from R&D to fully qualified military products within an approved Program of Record. This specific requirement is mandatory. •Must understand the mechanics of program management and possess an ability to improve program performance across the organization. •Has at least fifteen years of leadership experience, preferably in a business development management arena. •Possesses a verifiable record of creating, identification, pursuit and capture of new business. •Has familiarity with the steps necessary to identify, bid and close large, complex contracts and demonstrated ability to introduce complex products and concepts Federal clients. •Has proven success in a leadership role selling complex solutions into the Federal government sector demonstrating an intimate grasp of the government regulatory environment •Can serve as spokesperson in senior level interactions with current and potential government clients. •Possesses experience and has been responsible for performance, management and development of direct staff. •Can represent company to customers, partners and suppliers, both nationally and internationally. The chosen candidate must possess proven customer relationship management skills. •Has enough understanding of the technology value proposition in order to be credible internally and externally. The company is not looking for someone to be immersed in the finer points of technology but they must be comfortable with a diverse array of current and emerging complex technologies. •Participates in the establishment of long-range goals and objectives of the group and organization. •Has great problem solving and organizational skills. •The individual must be able to manage proposal development including both writing and costing of proposals of significant size and importance. This will include development of coherent win strategies and proposal kick-off packages, as well as experience managing proposal teams from kick-off through proposal delivery and award.
The successful personal characteristics should include: •Must possess a high level of personal motivation with the ability to operate with minimal supervision or direction. This characteristic is absolute. •Exemplary ethics is a must. A record of complete integrity and strong personal character. A keen sense of protocol and a clear reputation for ethical conduct. •Ability to understand user application of technologies sufficient to conduct meaningful dialog with current and potential customers. •Over 15 years of experience revenue generation, and strategic/tactical planning is required with JIEDDO, the US Army or the US Marine Corps. •Excellent communication skills and executive presence at the boardroom level. •Ability to operate effectively in a highly technical, state-of-the-art, rapidly evolving environment. •Ability to lead, inspire and align a team toward a focused vision and a set of goals. •Ability to think both tactically and strategically is required. •Must possess a results-oriented philosophy and focused high energy level. •Must be creative and resourceful. •Past military service is highly desirable. •US Citizenship is mandatory.
EDUCATION The Vice President, Business Development would possess an undergraduate degree, ideally in hard sciences, but soft degrees are acceptable. An MBA or MS degree would be a decided plus.
TRAVEL Must possess the ability to travel both domestically and internationally when needed. Travel should not exceed 20% on the average, but at the inception of the position, frequent travel to the headquarters in Arizona would be expected.
CLEARANCE Candidate must be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining an advanced US Security clearance at the TS level and above.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of proven military/federal/industry experience incorporating the above areas.
SALARY Compensation is open and will be determined by market compensation and the experience and background of the successful candidate. However, as a starting point only, a base of $190,000.00 to $240,000.00 with yearly bonuses with no cap on earnings, equity participation and significant executive perks is not unreasonable.
RELOCATION None is offered at this time as the client feels that the appropriate candidate is already in the Washington DC area working appropriate IED/JIEDDO customers.
