DIRECTOR OF TOTAL REWARDS - New York City


PeopleAreKey, Inc. is recruiting candidates for a Director of Total Rewards position on behalf of a client organization in New York, NY.



This Director of Total Rewards position reports directly to the VP of Human Resources for this well-known organization and is responsible for the development and implementation of Total Rewards strategies and programs including all compensation and benefit plans, HRIS systems, as well as the integration of Rewards strategies with Employee Performance and Development processes to drive employee performance and organizational results.



The position is both strategic and hands-on. It serves as the sole dedicated Compensation resource, the main HRIS management interface to IT and Finance (Accounting, Payroll), and also has management accountability for a Benefits Manager and a Data Analyst who handle the day-to-day administration of these functions.



Major Responsibilities


Collaborate and participate in decision-making with all members of the HR team, as well as partner with resources in IT, Finance, and other departments to achieve objectives

Communicate effectively with senior management and all employees regarding compensation programs and benefits plans and related questions and issues

Serve as primary resource for designing and implementing Total Rewards strategies and programs that are aligned and integrated with business plans/needs to enhance employee attraction, retention, and performance

Drive culture change through effectively designed and implemented ‘pay for performance’ programs that are integrated with Employee Development initiatives and systems

Develop, implement and manage all compensation programs and processes, including corporate bonus/incentive programs and divisional sales incentive plans

Develop and administer salary surveys to analyze trends and external benchmarks and make appropriate recommendations regarding changes to be made to maintain competitiveness as well as internal equity

Serve as Chairperson of 401K review committee

Ensure quality management for health, welfare, and disability benefits plans, including analysis and modification of plans, program administration and compliance, cost effectiveness and service delivery

Manage negotiation meetings with benefit vendors and/or broker

Stay up-to-date on and ensure compliance with applicable government regulations

Provide leadership to direct reporting staff (Benefits Manager, Data Analyst)

Serve as primary interface to IT and Finance (Accounting, Payroll) to identify and resolve HRIS issues to ensure Oracle HR platform meets business and HR needs


Requirements


10+ years HR experience including at least three years of direct responsibility for Compensation programs involving salary and incentive plan design/revision/administration as well as related organizational communication that effectively supports the creation and maintenance of a ‘pay for performance’ culture and drives achievement of desired individual and business performance results

Strong knowledge of benefit plans

Experience utilizing HRIS software, and knowledge of payroll systems (Oracle HR platform experience preferred)

Exceptional communication skills including formal presentations

Effective collaboration and relationship building skills

Previous management responsibility for a small staff is preferred

Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills required; knowledge of database software preferred

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or certifications preferred
