POSITON DETAILS

This position can be based in either Roanoke, VA or Minneapolis, MN.

Salary Range : $150k-$165k; Salary plus Bonus and/or Commission
Best Industry: Retail Trade

Senior level risk manager on corporate team to identify hazard risks, develop and implement safety and workers’ compensation guidelines and manage the company’s insurance programs. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

· Wide exposure to various corporate insurance and risk management programs.

· Experience with controlling workers' compensation exposure through aggressive claims management and safety.

· Experience with property, vehicle, general liability and other coverages.

· Experience with liability issues in the retail environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Management of three professionals – an Insurance Manager a Workers Comp Claim Manager and a P & C Claims Manager.

· Identification of appropriate risk mitigation and financing tools, including the potential use of a captive insurance company.

· Analysis of all loss information and actuarial analyses to proactively identify trends and mitigate future losses.

· Development and implementation of safety and workers’ compensation claims guidelines for implementation by facilities.

· Assistance to financial operations with budgeting, forecasting and allocating risk program expenses.

· Identification of key safety and workers’ compensation claims performance metrics and development of management and field reporting tools to elicit support for safety and claims management at the facility level.

· Management of the Company’s renewal process from the development of the application materials through program design and negotiation of the coverages with the broker and the carriers.

· Participation with operations personnel and the asset protection manager to manage company-wide safety programs.

· Management of the claims administrator, including the development of performance standards, claims reviews and audits.

· Acting as the primary liaison between the company and the insurance industry, including the monitoring of services of brokers, insurers and claims administrators.

· Due diligence review of acquisitions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· Five to ten years experience in corporate risk management or a large account commercial brokerage.

· Strong workers’ compensation experience.

· Experience with retail insurance programs, a plus.

· BA/BS required; MBA preferred

· Knowledge of finance and accounting a must, familiarity with methods for allocating insurance costs.

· Broad knowledge of desktop computer applications in order to prepare analyses of insurance data.

· Creative, hands-on and articulate.

· Candidate must demonstrate the ability to execute and implement and work collaboratively across organizational boundaries.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervises a team of managers and analysts
