Our client is one of the nation’s most successful and financially sound regional insurance groups, with an international reinsurance operation.
Our client is looking for an experienced Benefits Director who can design and develop benefit programs to attract and retain agents and employees. The Benefits Director will be responsible for ensuring that all benefits are consistent with company vision, long-term strategy and culture. Benefit programs include a fully funded Pension plan, lucrative 401(k) Profit Sharing plan, SERP, group life, group health/dental/prescription, long-term disability, and other miscellaneous fringe benefits.
Reports to: VP Human Resources
Job Summary • Works under the general direction of the HR Vice President and is fully accountable for all corporate benefit plans. • Responsible for compliance with governmental regulations related to corporate benefit plans. • Responsible for monitoring market conditions, developing trends and regulatory proposals to insure all plans are competitively positioned, cost effective and strategically sound. • Provides recommendations to executive management for changes to existing programs and proposals for new benefit offerings. • Prepares reports and analysis of our plans for executive management. • Attends, participates, and represents company in industry meetings and conferences pertaining to benefit programs.
Abilities • In-depth knowledge and understanding of all facets of employee benefit plans. • Ability to determine cost impact of specific benefit plan changes and the impact on corporate financials. • In-depth knowledge of benefit policies, practices, common exclusions/ limitations, and applicable laws. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong mathematical, financial, problem solving, analysis and negotiation skills.
Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources or Communication. • Seven to ten years experience in benefit design, with advanced level of knowledge and expertise in current benefit laws and regulations. • Experience with HSA, HRA, etc. • Experience transitioning from/to different/new benefit plans • Experience presenting to the Benefit Committee • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred.
