DESCRIPTION:
Our client is an extremely profitable and growing international renewable energy company. Headquartered in Greece, this company is one of the leading renewable energy companies in Europe, with interests in wind, hydroelectric, biomass and solar energy. Their mission is to become a prominent global leader in the renewable energy sector and to increase their long-term strength and grow their long-term capacity through the expansion of their geographic global footprint.
We are currently searching for a Director, Business Development to executive this strategy in North America. The mission of this position will be to develop and execute a business development strategy within the wind energy space for the company in North America. This individual will be responsible for developing relationships with key strategic customers, partners and players in the wind energy space, leveraging contacts into future business, researching and analyzing the marketplace to determine the future direction for business development and leading merger and acquisitions work. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for an energy industry business development executive to dramatically influence and direct the future of this organization, in a rapidly changing energy sector. This role will initially focus on business development, but will ultimately grow into a general management role for North America.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop relationships with wind project developers and other industry groups to identify specific investment opportunities. Find, educate and manage new green field opportunities and/or partnerships. Actively represent the company within the renewable energy industry. Participate in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, etc. Track the market, regulations and competitive developments in the energy industry. One Year Target Collect a substantial portfolio of wind energy projects of at least 300MW in North America. Three Year Target Collect a substantial portfolio of wind energy projects of at least 1,000MW in North America.
Expected Qualifications
Education
A Bachelors degree is required, preferably in engineering, business or finance field. An advanced degree in engineering, business, finance or related field is not required, but would be a strong plus.
Requirements
Qualified candidates will have 10+ years of relevant experience in business development within the renewable energy industry, preferably wind energy. Candidates should have a strong level of experience in business thought leadership and consulting, strategic development, requirements definition and business case development. Successful candidates must have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current business issues and climate within the energy industry, and associated contacts. This individual must be experienced in dealing and negotiating with senior level executives and have a strong customer focus. Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills are required. Candidates should also have a deep business sense, strong financial acumen, experience with the regulations of the energy industry and a deep knowledge of the financial aspects of the energy industry.
