Executive Job Description | The individual in this position will utilize a wide variety of advanced reserving techniques. Lines of business analyzed will include commercial multi-peril, liability, energy, aviation, and D & O . This position will report to the Senior Actuary. In addition to being technically proficient, this individual must have strong oral and written communication skills. This position requires frequent interaction with senior management, including the Chief Actuary of Corporate Actuarial - Reserving, as well as the Senior Vice President and Corporate Actuarial Responsibilities:
Assist in the quarterly reserving process and ensuring that the results are accurate and complete. Because of the high severity and low volume of our business, assumptions regarding expected loss ratios and loss development factors in the reserve analysis will often rely upon external data. Acquire both internal and external qualitative and quantitative data to produce and document loss ratio and development factor studies in order to provide support to our results to both internal and external parties. Ensure validity of data from various internal data sources, systems and requirements and be a liaison between the IT department and Actuarial department to ensure validity of data Develop validity checks of data to ensure updates are timely and accurate. Undertake analysis on various reserving related topics, such as impact on deductibles on loss development patterns, aggregate deductable policies, and ULAE. Assist in the development of monitoring report and tools that will enable Corporate Actuarial practice to communicate pertinent results to senior management and demonstrate there impact on the corporate financials. Additional studies and projects as needed. This position is a range posting for a Grade 16 Senior Actuarial Analyst or a Grade 18 Assistant Actuary based on experience.
Qualifications: · Strong analytical skill with a solid understanding of actuarial techniques · Creative problem solving skills · Strong desire to learn new techniques. · Modeling experience and data processing skills using tools such as excel, vba or Access is preferred, but not required. · Strong oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to communicate results at all levels of the organization. · 4-7 years of individual contributor work in Property and Causality insurance industry with increasing levels of responsibility and ownership of projects and leadership. · Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. · Completion of at least 5 CAS actuarial exams · Completion of additional exams or FCAS preferred Benefits: We recognize that talented people are attracted to companies that provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits packages and outstanding advancement opportunities.
