An accomplished technology manager, most recently leading a team that provides global support to Institutional, Private Client, Third Party Distribution, and Alternative Investments Asset Management business units. Broad range of financial applications expertise including asset management/portfolio accounting, investment banking, trading systems, brokerage back office, syndications, asset/liability risk management, and corporate general ledger. Trading systems have encompassed cash instruments as well as derivative securities: loans, deposits, government and corporate bonds, equities, asset backed securities, interest and currency swaps, futures, options, forwards, FRAs, caps, and floors.

Substantial experience with a diverse set of technologies including Web content management, application servers, n-tiered architectures, Web security, Oracle and Sybase relational databases, object-oriented graphical user interface and application development tools, document management and imaging software, XML authoring, communications gateways, data replication, etc.


EXPERIENCE

Top Tier Wall Street Firm 4/91 - present
Chief Technology Officer, Asset Management Division

Responsible for designing technical architecture enabling The Firm to create a compelling Web presence for Intranet as well as Extranet purposes. Created strategy to migrate from traditional client-server to Java-based three-tiered technology platform. Browser-based platform utilized in order to better support geographically dispersed user community with minimal desktop/laptop software installation requirements.

Asset Management (8/92 thru present)

Developed Technology Strategy for Asset Management Division, an investment manager of tens of billions of dollars in assets, with goals of:
• Re-purpose unstructured content, leveraging XML-based authoring tools, content repository, automated workflow approval processes
• Paperless trading environment, electronic interfaces to brokers, custodians, clearing houses, clients, and email
• Reduce processing errors, improve accuracy and timeliness of reporting to clients, decrease costs
• Position firm to handle rapidly expanding Wrap-fee volumes
• Accessibility to data for ad-hoc analyses by end-users

A combination of both proprietary systems and third party products are part of the overall technical architecture providing an integrated best-of-breed environment. Selected and implemented Portia to replace time-sharing portfolio accounting system, Predator for equity order tracking, Braid & OpenMessenger for straight-through processing. Internally developed order generation tool, front end fixed income and foreign exchange trade capture, client reporting packages, portfolio manager workstation, and restriction checking solution.

Prior to 1998 served in various other areas within The Firm; since 1998 entirely focused on Asset Management division


Firm Accounting/Financial Control (8/91 – 12/97)

Replaced twelve year old Firm General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Project Accounting system with Oracle-based client-server modules.

Brokerage Processing (6/96 – 12/97)

Managed development of various brokerage-related screens and reports as part of conversion on to ADP time-sharing system.

Personnel (4/91 – 12/97)

Implemented Firm’s first personnel system to track current and former employees, including job, salary, bonus, education, prior work experience, and personal information.

Investment Banking (8/91 – 12/97)

Developed and implemented Investment Banking deal tracking system and interfaced to firm-wide project accounting module. Created mergers and acquisitions database to assist research analysts. Investigated document management solutions.

Top Tier Commercial Bank 6/84 – 4/91
Project Manager, Capital Markets & Overseas Automation Group (1/88 – 4/91)

Created strategic automation plan for Balance Sheet Management business group. Hired/cross-trained staff for bank’s first Oracle-based applications group. Developed data model and entity relationships and designed databases. Interfaced with all levels of business and technical individuals.

Responsible for all aspects of two major applications:
• Funding Desk trading system enabling consolidated view of cross-instrument positions and profit/loss. Funding Desk utilized wide variety of methods to manage interest rate exposure risk while attempting to minimize funding costs.
• Syndications/Investment Banking system to support deal makers as well as back office staff. Functionality included tracking investor preferences, facility fee/accrual information, detailed borrower and investor activities, and real-time fax link.

Financial Controller, Capital Markets & Overseas Automation Group (5/86 – 12/87)
Budgeted and tracked $24 million in project expenses incurred in ten cost centers throughout the world. Prepared various presentations to senior management. Responsible for allocations to line areas. Analyzed and negotiated vendor proposals for global software licensing. Participated in strategic systems planning. Interfaced with virtually all user areas and bank control groups domestically and overseas.

Financial Analyst, Wholesale Services Area (6/84 – 4/86)
Produced and analyzed Profit & Loss statements. Automated reporting via micro and mainframe computers. Special projects: determine unit costs for money transfer transactions, analyze CashWire investment proposal, design and implement IntraDay Overdraft Reporting and Backvalue Adjustment systems.
