Senior Vice President and Director of Investment Operations
Recruited to join the Wealth & Investment Management Division of, a $196 billion commercial bank with $130 billion in assets under management. When I arrived, the bank was at the peak of a growth-through-acquisition strategy, increasing its Private Bank account base by 50% to 75,000, until 2004 when the bank was acquired. My Division planned and executed the clean handoff of operations and technology for this merger of Private Bank businesses.
While at the bank, I directed all operations support for Private Bank investment accounts, including trust & fiduciary. Customer segments served were High-Net-Worth Individuals, Middle Market Institutions, Not-for-Profit Organizations and Investment Advisory firms. Functional responsibilities included trade settlement and clearance, mutual fund processing, asset custody, cash and fee accounting, project management, customer service, internal control and compliance. Also responsible for the core technology platform that supported the Private Bank. Managed a workforce of 280 people within an annual budget of $26 million. Selected accomplishments:
Business Partnership: Used a formal strategic planning process to maintain sharp focus on profit and service goals. Our unique service quality program improved customer-facing image and service delivery. Scored four out of possible five on annual survey.
Workforce Development: Leveraged employee satisfaction to achieve profit and service goals. Earned 87% employee favorability score with 90% response rate. Designed and implemented improvement programs for sourcing & recruitment, performance management, recognition, diversity leadership, education and succession planning.
Operating Effectiveness: Fulfilled all Service Level Agreements and consistently achieved all key performance measures. Deployed Six Sigma Methodology for achieving operating efficiencies.
Project Delivery: Directed on-time, on-budget integration of two bank acquisitions. Delivered and sustained 22% run rate reduction against 52% account growth.
Cost Management: Achieved consistency and predictability in forecasting financial results. Delivered 10% run rate improvement (non-merger) over four years.

Joined this global technology provider as a bridge to the personal wealth management sector of investment services. I worked as an program manager, responsible for process redesign in the operations division.
Executive Vice President and Manager of Capital Markets Operations
Recruited to join a $12 billion regional commercial bank to resolve control weaknesses across the investment sales & trading organization (60 Seats) during a period of rapid growth. Achieved operational stability and positioned the firm to resume business expansion. Reported directly to the CFO.
While at the bank, I directed all operations and technology support for the bank portfolio, funding & liquidity management, foreign exchange, fixed income sales & trading, risk trading and the registered commodities trading advisor subsidiary. Brokerage operations was also included until it was outsourced in June 1991. Managed a workforce of 55 people within an annual budget of $3 million. Selected accomplishments:
Technology Solutions: Modernized the technology infrastructure by installing a client-server system that provided integrated sales & trading functionality linked to operations. Planned and executed systems conversion with little or no disruption to the customer. Expanded user skill set to fully leverage the benefits of an open systems environment.
Leadership: Selected by the bank’s Management Committee to chair a task force that defined leadership standards and designed leadership development processes for use company-wide. Also selected to serve as Implementation Coordinator and Working Team Member for corporate infrastructure redesign.
Joined the bank in 1987 as a Vice President. Promoted to Senior Vice President in 1991 and Executive Vice President in 1996.

Managed all operations and technology support for the Capital Markets Division of this $9 billion commercial bank. Businesses supported include bank portfolio, funding & liquidity management, foreign exchange, fixed income sales & trading and brokerage.
1984 Vice President and Manager of Capital Markets Operations - Selected by the Director of Technology & Operations to replace the incumbent manager and achieve operational stability during a period of rapid growth.
1982 Assistant Vice President and Manager of Specialized Loan Operations - Created start-up operation for construction lending, mortgage warehousing and lease financing business.
Joined the bank in 1976 as a Paralegal specializing in commercial loan collections and recovery. Promoted to Officer in 1978 and Senior Officer in 1980.
