In my most current role, I lead a business that has learned to grow again. The business has increased the top-line from $1.06 billion to $1.45 billion is just 3 years. This growth was generated by execution of a clear strategy and focus on the fundamentals.
The $300 million global operating group that I helped build over seven years experienced double digit sales growth, double digit operating income and measurable improvement in customer service. With more than 20 years of full P&L responsibility, I have demonstrated an ability to grow sales, increase margins, manage working capital, control expenses and increase shareholder value.
I consider some of my top career accomplishments to be:
1. Leading a 2000-person organization through a resurgent 3-year period resulting in ~$400 million of revenue growth and an increase of 4.2% of market share. This growth was achieved without a reduction in the gross margin.
2. Recruiting a 40 person team and launching a European business. Increasing sales from $3 million to $25 million (today $44 million) while tripling the gross profit margins in 3 years. The end result was that the business became one of the best financially performing businesses in the entire company.
3. Leading a 200 person organization through a significant culture shift to be more customer focused which was reflected by On Time Shipments improving from 43% to >90% in 3 years.
4. Leading an organization of 275 people through an unprecedented 60% market downturn and maintaining business profitability, positive cash flow and retaining key personnel. This was accomplished by quickly reducing operating expenses, reducing inventory and good communications. Operating expenses reductions were executed by clearly identifying the urgent need and aligning the organization around the execution. Inventory was reduced from $50 million to $15 million in <14 months and turns were kept between 5 and 6.
5. Leading the team during three years of significant improvement in employee engagement scores (>5% each year) and increased employee morale. This was done through dramatically improved communications that were focused on listening.
The most recent 7 years of my career have included global responsibility with experience in the USA, EMEA, Asia and South America. This includes direct responsibility for opening businesses in Europe and South America.
Compensation in recent years has ranged from $750,000 to $1,000,000 (Salary + Bonus + LTI) based upon performance.

I played a key role in expanding the business value proposition by signing additional suppliers and expanding into new geographies. Drove initiative to open sales operation in South America from concept to full operations in less than 6 months. Drove performance based leadership by establishing clear metrics and holding the organization accountable for meeting or exceeding the goals. Focused the global organization on improving customer service and increased On Time Shipments by more than 10% in less than 1 year. Used CPI initiatives to drive cost reduction and manage working capital to balance automotive industry downturn. Global expenses reduced 40% ($25 million to $15 million) and inventory reduced by 50% ($50 million to $25 million) in 14 months.
NORTH AMERICAN VICE PRESIDENT, 2005 – 2008 As Vice President of the North America business I had P&L responsibility for $244 million business with more than 2500 customers. Drove the organization to be more customer focused with On Time Shipments improved from 43% to more than 90%. Led the team to three consecutive years of significant improvement in employee engagement scores.
MANAGING DIRECTOR, 2003 – 2005 As Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa I had the leadership role in establishing the European operations including recruiting of sales, marketing, customer service, materials finance and operations. Grew sales from ~$3 million in 2001 to >$25 million in 2004 ($44 million – 2008) while tripling gross margin and operating income. I renegotiated a key supplier contract worth $25 million for the global business. Led the successful implementation of ERP system with no down time.
