PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2001 to present: Vice President, Regional Executive
Insurance Company
General Management responsibilities include profit and loss for personal insurance written in a 14 state region comprised of 100 people and $215million in premium volume.
• Achieved targeted turnaround one year faster than planned.
• Reduced combined ratio by 50 points in a two year period.
• Achieved profit in excess of targeted ROE.
• Reduced staffing by one-third while maintaining planned premium volume.
• Reduced expenses beyond planned levels.


1995- 2000: Vice President, Branch Manager- Rochester and Buffalo, NY offices
Insurance Company
General management responsibilities included maintaining a local distribution network, growth, profitability, expense management, account retention, human resources management and strategic planning for two branch offices comprised of 48 people with $60million in premium volume.
• Achieved profit, growth and expense control above planned levels.
• Worked with 60 agents in a 30 county area to produce superior results.

Responsibilities included working with the Senior Management team on recruiting, succession planning, and career development. Acted as a liaison to corporate diversity groups and managed trainee and intern staffing and planning.
• Participated in a select group of twenty individuals assigned to develop a new organizational structure for the underwriting divisions of the company.
• Developed and implemented corporate programs enabling higher levels of employee contribution and maximizing the company’s ability to attract develop and retain diverse individuals. Programs included Electronic Job Posting, Employee Development Process, Mentoring Program, Branch Manager Exchange Program and a Just in Time Staffing process
• Led corporate MBA recruiting efforts at Kellogg Business School.

1978-1993: Department of Financial Institutions (various positions with New York branch offices and Home Office including New York Zone Manager and Worldwide P&C Underwriting Manager)

D&O, E&O and Financial Fidelity products for financial institution

• Responsible for underwriting, management and strategic planning for a staff of 40 people over five offices with $150million in premium volume.

• Active participant and speaker in the American Bankers Association and New York Risk & Insurance Management Association.
• Developed and implemented worldwide underwriting strategy and product development for package, automobile, workers compensation, foreclosure, trust and mortgage impairment products.
• Earned the highest level of property and casualty underwriting authority within the division and handled worldwide referrals from all Chubb branches.
