Managing Director/Senior Credit Executive – Investment Bank, 1997-2007

Provided credit oversight and approval for a $40 billion portfolio consisting of over 450 municipal, municipal agency and not-for-profit clients located in the United States and Puerto Rico, from 2001 through 2007.
• Was influential in achieving portfolio growth in excess of $22 billion over a five-year period through timely communication of credit decisions, expediting approval of innovative new products, reviewing and updating credit thresholds, and ensuring adequate staffing to support the continually expanding client base.
• Supported new business initiatives and enhanced revenue generation by providing the businesses with credit and structuring expertise in the development of proprietary structured products, such as Direct Lending.
• Employed a holistic risk management approach in analyzing three complex natural gas prepay transactions, collaborating with other risk disciplines to ensure that all issues and concerns were appropriately addressed.
• Enhanced JPMorgan Chase Bank’s relationship with the City of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina by expediting the approval of several large commitments, enabling the Bank to assume the lead in providing financing to various City entities.
• Made critical, time-sensitive decisions that allowed the Bank to provide short-term liquidity to nonprofit political instrumentalities in Florida and Louisiana following the active 2005 hurricane season, assuring the Bank a senior role in underwriting the instrumentalities’ long-term Hurricane Bonds.
• Assumed credit responsibility for approving energy derivative and trading transactions with municipal clients for the newly acquired Energy Trading business in 2005 and supported portfolio growth with timely credit decisions.
• Demonstrated leadership in hiring, managing and retaining a highly competent team of credit professionals by promoting teamwork, delegating authority, building confidence, and inspiring excellence and success. Encouraged career advancement through goal setting, coaching, constructive and timely feedback, and recognition of individual accomplishments.
• Trained and mentored non-departmental credit analysts to enhance their risk assessment and presentation skills which improved the quality and timeliness of the credit approval process.

Key credit contact for the review and approval of structured receivables transactions for two multi-seller asset-backed commercial paper conduits sponsored by JPMorgan Chase Bank, Park Avenue Receivables Corp. and Delaware Funding Corp, from 1997 through 2004.
• Made sound credit decisions which contributed to the growth of the combined conduit receivables portfolios to over $20 billion by 2004. Developed expertise in analyzing a broad range of asset classes, including auto loans, credit cards, consumer loans, fleet leases, equipment loans and leases, floorplan loans, trade receivables and future flow receivables for over 90 different clients.
• Contributed to the creation and successful launch of Park Avenue Receivables Corp. in 1997 by evaluating and approving the conduit’s initial structure, documentation and receivables purchases.
• Following the merger of JPMorgan and Chase Manhattan Bank in 2001, accepted credit responsibility for JPMorgan’s $10 billion asset-backed commercial paper conduit, Delaware Funding Corp., more than doubling the size of the credit portfolio.
• Managed the seamless transition of the conduit credit function to the Bank One credit executive in July 2004, following JPMorgan’s merger with Bank One.

Provided counterparty credit approvals and limit monitoring for the fixed income trading businesses of Chase Securities Inc. and the fed funds and interbank placement businesses of the Bank, from 1997 through 2001.
• Demonstrated confidence and poise in dealing with the demands of the trading desks and earned the respect of management for the timely approval of limit requests.
• Collaborated with market risk to update the fractional exposure methodology used to calculate credit risk for bond trading and repurchase transactions.
• Partnered with technology to enhance systems capabilities for monitoring and reporting credit exposure.

Manager of the US Tax Based Leveraged Leasing Group’s big ticket equipment portfolio with a total equipment cost of $1.5 billion.
• Coordinated with Legal, Tax and Accounting to complete the sale of the portfolio to a Bank affiliate in 1997, generating a tax savings for the Bank.

Vice President/Credit Deputy – Chemical Securities, Inc./Domestic Treasury/Specialized Leasing Group, 1992 – 1997

Assumed expanded credit responsibility for monitoring and approving counterparty risk for the fixed income trading businesses while continuing to be responsible for providing credit approvals for Domestic Treasury and managing the big ticket leasing portfolio.
• Demonstrated the ability to quickly learn new products, procedures and systems and earn the confidence and respect of the trading managers following the departure of the previous Credit Deputy.
• Generated a $15 million profit on the sale of leases to a third party.
