Founded in 1999 as a new retail concept in Mexico, a Dollar Store. has approximately 300M in annual revenue. The retailer is a multi-unit retail company that I helped grow from 76 stores and 127M to 220 stores and over 250 M annual revenue USD base over 3 years. Mexican retailer went from negative EBITDA in 2002 to positive EBITDA in my first year, due to cost structure changes and set the stage for doubling sales and stores in 2004 and 2005. EBITDA has doubled each year.
Treasury and Cash Management to maintain liquidity Raised 4 M in revolving US Dollar working capital loans from Mexican bank. Built global banking support for international trade finance requirements. Maintained liquidity while maintaining annual store growth of 50%. Improved credit rating in US D&B from significant risk to low risk. Linked inventory planning and accounts payable to cash availability. Automated bank reconciliation.
Accounting for accurate and timely financial information Successful completion of 2003 audit with unqualified opinion, first clean opinion in history of company. Reduced time of audit by 2 months. Reduced monthly close by 10 working days. Ensured growth with asset control. Implemented inventory control, reducing inventory by an average of 20 days. Corporate Planning: a basis of focused growth Developed master budget to introduce expense control and flex budgeting process to bring expenses in line with company growth needs and profitability objectives. Wireless Infrastructure Company. publicly listed company, Nov. 1999- Mar. 2002 CFO of Latin America Segment, reporting to CFO of company Telecom infrastructure building company with annualized growth around 50%. My role was to build pricing models for multi-million dollar bids, create a project accounting team and manage cash. Raised 100M in cash and set up annual budgeting process, planning processes and incorporated Latin America subsidiaries into meeting US GAAP and public company reporting standards.
Treasury to raise cash to support growth Responsibilities included banking relationships and cash management. Negotiated and closed $100 M, secured credit line with syndication of four banks with Credit Suisse First Boston as the lead bank. Managed a $100M convertible debt issuance and $150M Secondary Stock offering.
Corporate Finance for pricing, investor relations and annual budgeting: Pricing models enabled company to more effectively target business development. Investor presentations devised and then maintained a financial scorecard used in the quarterly investor calls.
