As the first financial employee, responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of Finance, Accounting, SEC Reporting, Legal affairs, Treasury, Human Resources and Investor/Public Relations. Extensive work on raising capital, road shows and a merger/financing transaction which closed in April 2002. Significant attention to initial implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements including corporate governance, reporting and audit committee matters.
Altus Medical, Inc., Burlingame, CA November 1999 – November 2001 Director of Finance Acted as Chief Financial Officer of the medical device manufacturer. Hands-on responsibility for accounting, finance, information systems, customer service, treasury, risk management and legal. Joined the Company when it had no finance/accounting personnel and established systems and procedures to manage the business operations and a fast paced product launch. Responsible for building the finance department and selecting and implementing an ERP system. Extensive work in building and streamlining procurement, manufacturing control, order fulfillment and manufacturing variance analysis processes. Prepared the Company for its Initial Public Offering.

Primary financial responsibility for complex corporate partnership with a major pharmaceutical company. Extensively involved in systems implementation for product manufacturing, distribution and product accounting. VIVUS, Inc., Mountain View, CA November 1996 – October 1998 Assistant Controller Joined the company in development stage with minimal staff and systems in place. Built accounting and financial systems and staff to proactively meet the needs of a multi-national organization with sales of over $100 million in its first year.
