2002 - Present Recreatinal Facility Operator, Colorado
Managed Financial Operations
New management asked me to assume the role of Financial Manager to help organize and develop the facility's accounting, financial and point of sale systems.
I revised the Peachtree accounting system and developed effective management reports to track revenues and expenses by operating department; analyzed and documented telephone and Internet issues; and reviewed, updated and documented the existing Point of Sale system. To improve budget preparation, I created an Excel spreadsheet model for developing the budget and for building revenue and expense projections. All payroll, sales and special tax payments are prepared and submitted under my direction.
1993 – 2001 State Park Agency
Directed Finance, IT and Administration Operations
Promoted to this position in 1993, I served as essentially the CFO for the division, developing, administering, and tracking a $26 million operating and a $40 million biennial capital/maintenance budget as well as division revenue reporting activities for $14 million revenue, all for 31 operating units around the state.
I also led the division's data processing and information technology program along with purchasing, personnel and administrative operations. I provided tracking of revenues; guided the use of technology to improve operations; and guided the handling of personnel, purchasing, and administrative tasks by overseeing a professional staff of 6 and developing policies and procedures.
In 1996 this division was merged with another division, leading to an increase in budgets and responsibility as shown below:

Based on an approved pricing package I developed with input from field personnel and comparisons with other state and private fees, revenues increased 11% in FY 2002.
In 1998 I initiated and led a division-wide strategic planning effort to help reconcile the differing missions of the two merged divisions. A new mission, vision and values acceptable to all stakeholders were developed. Page – 2; 7/04
During my tenure we began operations of 3 new state parks, one new golf course, and had begun preliminary operations at a fourth state park. We also merged two divisions with a reduction in administrative staff while maintaining service levels to our internal and external customers.
I received the Award for Outstanding Employee in the Executive, Scientific, & Medical classification in 2001 and the State Parks' Award for Outstanding Service for 1995.

Promoted to this position in 1985 to oversee the division’s move into the computer age and to oversee administrative functions including purchasing, personnel budgeting, and office management. Began with 2 microcomputers still in boxes. Prepared plan for expansion, found funding, and implemented.
Served as the division's only system analyst, designing spreadsheets, simple databases, and computer bulletin board systems for our main office and 9 field locations. Began practice of hiring student ‘interns’ to assist in system maintenance and development.
