Snack, Vending and Food Distributor Sept. 2001 Present Controller Distribution Divisions Manage all accounting and financial aspects for three divisions:
A wholesale snack distributor to independent route owners and supermarkets in a large metropolitan area. Also distributor to large schools system, with sales totaling $18 million.
A distributor of vending machine merchandise, with sales totaling $12 million.
A supplier to the grocery industry, with sales totaling $10 million.
o Supervise six accounting associates involved in all aspects of: Financial Statement preparation, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory Control.
o Collaborate with Information Technology Department to develop and maintain internally developed sales and routing program used for school system deliveries.
o Prepare bids for City and Municipal business, coordinating input from all departments, preparing financial projections and then consolidating into bid form.
o Work with other departments to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes by using technology.
o Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
o Review all monthly Financial Statements before presenting to Chief Financial Officer and Owner.
o Prepare weekly flash reports to help manage business and identify trends.
o In charge of MAS90 enterprise software installation; responsible for maintaining software, designing custom reports using Crystal Reports, designing system processes. Also primary contact for third-party sales software using hand-held computers in warehouse and route trucks.
o Review all vendor price increases with buying group; calculate new selling prices for each customer group.
o Evaluate possible new business opportunities, including extension of existing business and investing/purchasing new businesses.
Wholesale Distributor Dec. 1999 Sept. 2001 Controller A newly formed wholesale distributor to the supermarket industry with annual sales totaling $350 million. The company was sold to one of the top five grocery wholesalers in the country.
In addition to managing an accounting staff of 17 for Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Credit and Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management activities, I played a key role in launching financial operations of the new company:
Developed business plan, including financial projections for new company, which acquired the purchasing and distribution contract for retail chain customer.
Worked with senior management to present business plan to banks, and obtained $23-million financing agreement.
Acted as primary financial contact for all trade vendors, and worked with vendors to obtain $15 million in trade credit.
Developed systems and procedures for accounting department.
Determined staffing requirements and hired staff.
Integrated existing wholesaler financial systems into parent systems.
Planned and coordinated year-end audit with outside CPA firm.
Supervised preparation of internal and external financial reports.

For major consumer electronics retain chain with annual sales totaling $650 million, supervised a staff of six for monthly closings and preparation of financial statements for internal and external use. Included Reports: sales, margin, expense and budget variance analysis. Also:
Represented department on company system integration team responsible for implementing new retail and financial software packages. Directed department personnel on implementation and use of new systems.
Managed and reviewed the work of the seven-person sales audit department, including daily reconciliation of store deposits and credit card reimbursements.
Designed and implemented all company accounting policies and procedures.
Coordinated a test program to implement personal check acceptance in stores with outside check verification companies, financial institutions, store operations and store management.

For grocery distributer to the supermarket industry with annual sales totaling $750 million, promoted in place and continued duties of director while assuming additional responsibilities, including Accounts Payable and Payroll Departments with additional staff of 24 people.

Reviewed companys daily cash position, including borrowing and investment decisions.
Reviewed financial statements prior to submission to upper management.
