Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Consumer Credit Cards, 1993 -1997 Recruited by President to lead the company’s largest division during a period of accelerated growth. During tenure, grew managed assets by 2.5 times to $15 billion producing revenue and operating profits of $2.1 billion and $350 million, respectively, resulting in the 6th largest credit card company in the U.S.
- Completely overhauled and rebuilt the financial organization in order to support the rapid growth of this business. - Restructured portfolio resulting in more than $150 million of additional net operating profit. - Appointed by President to serve as division leader to re-engineer the collections, credit policy and decision support functions encompassing 600+ FTEs and an annual budget in excess of $500 million. - Played key leadership role in a variety of strategic efforts including joint ventures, strategic alliances and acquisitions and divestitures. - Developed and implemented EVA-based decision support system that enabled the company to successfully implement risk-based pricing throughout the entire portfolio.

- Led COMPANY’s first public debt offering for its consumer bank leveraging its newly acquired investment grade status. - Designed and directed a corporate wide program that enabled the company to obtain its first investment grade ratings from all five rating agencies saving more than $50 million annually in funding costs. - Played key role in successful efforts that raised more than $300 million from three secondary equity offerings. - Established $500 million revolving credit facility and company’s first medium term note program.
Assistant Corporate Treasurer, 1989 -1991 Managed all corporate finance functions. Developed COMPANY’s first long-term capital plan providing the roadmap that enabled COMPANY to reach investment grade under my leadership opening several new and less expensive funding sources to the Company. Initially hired to report to the Corporate Treasurer. In early 1991, the Treasury Division was reorganized resulting in my promotion to Vice President and head of Corporate Treasury with a direct reporting line to the Corporate CFO.
