Executive Job Description | The Test Architect role will interface with architects, development, and sometimes business. This role is responsible for delivering testing recommendations during the conceptual phase of the SDLC . The goal is to develop applications and infrastructure that is testable and automatable. This role is for a visionary, who researches emerging technologies and methodologies in the IT Industry and makes certain that our QAG organization is well-leveraged. Currently the two newest technologies here at Nordstrom that the architect must be knowledgeable about is SOA (Services Oriented Architecture) and Security testing. In addition this role will promote best QA practices and standards, identify and roadmap testing efficiencies.
The ideal test architect is motivated, results oriented and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day. This individual will work with IT software architects to influence IT software design by making recommendations to produce highly testable and automatable application software. The test architect will provide hands-on leadership to drive continuous improvement of test coverage and design for test efficiency improvements, and for leveraging functional automation and performance testing.
Responsibilities
• Review context diagrams and solution approach documents to determine best test approach and environment needs
• Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure and software development efforts and provide QA strategy for functional and performance testing for these emerging technologies
• Design and/or optimize test approaches/strategies, test efficiency improvements and testing tools for manual, automated, and performance testing
• Design solutions for test efficiency improvements
• Provide mentoring and guidance to QA Technical Leads
• Partner with QA Program Manager in providing a unified executable test strategy
Qualifications
• 2+ years experience working with application architects and/or enterprise architects
• 8+ years of experience working with and developing in Test Automation tools and Test Management tools
• 10+ years of experience testing client-server, web, J2EE, .NET application platforms
• 3 – 5 years experience with automated testing tools. HP QTP and LoadRunner experience a plus.
• 2+ years experience testing SOA architecture is required
• Knowledgeable in Agile, Iterative and Security testing methodologies
• Experience with HTML, IIS/ASP and SQL Server required, experience with other web development technologies (e.g.: .NET, Java, Oracle, C/C++, perl) a plus
• Strong test development and system design background, preferably in the retail industry
• Proficient in the use of Quality Center
• Working knowledge of developing, testing and supporting test code
• Ability to develop SQL and Oracle queries
